The Crimson Collective hacking group claims that it has hacked Nintendo

A hacking group is claiming that it has managed to breach Nintendo and access internal data, including developer assets and admin data. Known as the Crimson Collective, the hackers were behind a breach of Red Hat Consulting's GitHub repository last month, accessing thousands of sensitive files and source codes. Currently, it's unconfirmed that Nintendo was hacked or any of its data was in fact breached, but the group did share a screenshot of folders it claims it managed to access.

Ooh...Switch 2 exploit/emulator incoming?
It already exists ..... its the same darn console, just upgraded from the redundant old nvidia chip to a later model.

Why do you think nintendo fabricated laws to have SW1 emulators shut down.....

Because all of these brainwashed nintendo fanboys lying to themselves demanding how much better its recycled WiiU game BoTW is on the SW2......

Its the same game, just running at higher resolution vs the SW1 @720p...

We can emulate it upto 4K and not using crappy AI lower resolutions upscalled to higher display resolution.

Because at end of the day its just taking base display dimension 1920×1080 then resized to 4K.

It doesn't, that's a drastic leap in hardware capability and feature support going from the equivalent of the GTX 900 chipset to the RTX 2000 chipset. Some part of the code from existing emulators could be re-used, I'm sure, but it's probably a lot less than you'd expect.

nope, not at all. I highly doubt they keep information about potential exploit in their database. Otherwise, it would have been fixed already 😹
They don't need to keep information about an exploit. Having access to source code and other development assets is enough to look for a vulnerability.

That's great news! Nintendo need to learn mistakes. Hackers can make Nintendo servers to crash for good reasons cause millions players to get roar up to yell out so loud and angry due to problems like DRM. Let burn Nintendo servers down! Take Nintendo servers down for fun time! LOL! :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:

Seriously, what's up with Nintendo's cybersecurity? I've had Emmental cheese with less holes than whatever they are running!
To be fair, Sony was hacked fairly easily during the PS3 days. One of the biggest breaches led to PSN being down for a month, millions of PSN accounts being compromised, and credit card information being either lost by Sony or stolen by hackers. You know, the usual stuff that happened when Sony had cybersecurity that was as sturdy as tissue paper.

But in general? You could have some of the most advanced cybersecurity measures and protection protocols in the world, and all it'd take would be one guy having a momentary lapse in judgment for a hacker to bypass all of them. (It's why the rise in ID verification protocols and requirements has people worried: some companies don't delete IDs, making them a treasure trove for any malicious hacker looking to ruin people's lives for self gain.)

That's why the damage control part of cybersecurity is equally important. Nothing's going to keep a determined hacker out forever, so you want to be able to minimize the potential damage that can be caused in the event a hacker does gets through. The Pokemon gigaleak was only possible because Game Freak clearly didn't solidify the "damage control" part and failed to purge the leaker from the system until said leaker had as much data as they claimed to have. That said, the Sony PSN breaches were arguably worse, and potential examples of both weak breach prevention AND sluggish/inept damage control.

While I don't like Nintendo anymore, this is still bad news.

Then again.

I do not like Metroid Prime 4 so far.

The Switch 2 Mario Kart is in my opinion one if not the worst Mario Karts ever made solely because how Nintendo has both overpriced the game and handled the online component of it.

20 Dollars DLC for games that has less content that the Plus upgrade of Sonic Mania.

Literally selling the Switch 2 tutorial instead of giving it for free for buying an overpriced videogame console.

Nintendo ending all discounts and loyalty offers yet offering less content that when that existed.

Rising the Switch 1 price when the console was launched almost a decade ago and the price of making it has keep going down, tariffs or not.

Like in or not in this game generation Sony has been treating their customers better that Nintendo, even the PS5 price hike is not as bad because it is at least a current gen console compared to the Switch 1.

And they are not pulling an Xbox and they are launching some of their games for PC.

Granted the PS5 Pro is the price of a computer but at least it doesn't feel as overpriced as the Switch 2 for what you get.
