I dunno about US law but where I live, people can't be just be detained for suspected crimes. They have to tell you what you're being arrested for. Here you got a guy arrested by ICE for being an illegal but is actually a citizen but remains detained and apparently potentially be sent to a detention center. This shit doesn't fly if you believe in basic civil liberties.

No unreasonable ("cruel or unusual") punishments is part of the constitution. The punishment needs to match the crime. Crossing illegally, doesn't automatically mean go to prison. Deport? fine. Deportation and prison to the very country he was ABSOLUTELY not supposed to go to. by court order I must restate. No.

That's the US's fuck up. They have to get him back. I don't expect him to stay forever, or never be deported. But the expectation is that he is supposed to be able to defend himself and get a lawyer.

This is simply not true. Most people will carry an ID if they're out since they're likely driving, spending money (and have their wallet ) need an ID going into a bar, or buying substances that require you to be 21+ but I can go for a bike ride or walk and have no obligation to carry an ID if I do.

Every cop I've run into is like "You need to have an I.D. on you at all times", so take it up with them.

To be clear I don't think it's a bad idea to always keep an ID on when leaving your home, especially in this political climate but it's not mandatory to do so.

I mean I still don't care to when working out, I don't even bring it if I'm going to the Y.

Giving everyone a national ID that can also serve as a state ID and driver's license isn't something I'm against either. It'd make those voter fraud crybabies shut up.
