On one hand, the console's gonna be pretty popular and it will likely not be that hard to emulate considering the BC and similarity to Switch 2

On the other hand, we don't know the security of the console, and if it'll be hacked soon enough like Switch 1 or if it will take forever for a jailbreak like.... say, xbox 360. Not to mention that Nintendo seems to be more serious about striking down emulation now in the wake of Ryu and Yuzu's discontinuations

XBox 360 emulation wasn't achieved as fast as, lets say, the Wii, because it wasn't as popular as the latter, and not precisely becuse its security measures were "undefeatable".

As always, Nintendo consoles have been far more popular than Microsucks and Sunny-copy-cat consoles, and consider the fact that many games released for them both, were also available for gaming PC's.

The Switch +1 will be hackable? Definitely yes.

When? Time will tell.

But soon, very soon, maybe sooner than expected. (Quote me on this one).

tell me about 360 emulation man.... it's such a hassle compared to other consoles, with all the different builds and mods you need to download for games to SOMEWHAT work. Graphical glitches are still abound despite Xenia being 10+ years old.
I would just play on original hardware if it weren't for the fact I dislike having to fiddle with other consoles and HDMI cables and all that nonsense, and the 360 controller being outdated and uncomfy by 2025 standards (most overrated controller of all time.)
It's comparable to N64 or pre-Duckstation PS1 emulation in how bad it is

i guess we could do it but remember that switch 2 is current gen and the great nintendo strike of 2024 happened
also you might need a really good gaming pc to run switch 2 exclusives decently, at least 30fps

With what we know now, It might be easy to emulate Switch 1 BC, but besides the possible similarities with the backends... I don't think it will because i'm pretty sure the Ampree GPU would be a whole different ballgame in terms of the differences compared to the Maxwell GPU that the Switch 1 has. especially since the S2 will undeniably have a more advanced ARM architecture to emulate

Switch 2 isn't current gen, it's next gen. Nintendo are 1 gen ahead of Sony/Microsoft due to the Wii U being a flop.

No, if anything Switch 2 is 1 gen behind PS5/ Series S/X. No way the newest games like Indiana Jones, COD: BO6, Elden Ring, Balders Gate 3, etc would be playable on Switch 2. Its more on par with last gen- PS4/Xbox One.

It'll be right away. Satoru Iwata is gonna get all pissed off that the switch2 doesn't have dual screens and get to work reviving yuzu and watching the contents of the hunter biden laptop.

It might have some type of dual screen. I think that extra button is going to be some type of way to make it dual screen, I’m going to call the c button, the u button for Wii U games when they are rereleased. I know people say casting is not going to be perfect but that’s the only way I can see the tablet becoming the wiiu second screen while the main game is on tv screen. I just say this because Nintendo brought up the wiiu.
On topic, I think something to hack this console will come up, even though the paper clip option might be gone, maybe there will be some type of magnet option. Can’t remember if a hack thing was made this way for the 3ds or it just powered on the 3ds, I think it was that ds. Ok maybe I went off topic a bit but I think it has to be hacked first before emulated.

Who's gonna want to do all that work just to probably get sued? Maybe if they're in a country that Nintendo can't touch them.

I'm not really that much hopeful about it, especially if GBATemp's predictions that the console will be almost impossible to homebrew come true.

Unless there is homebrew, we can't really obtain the console encryption keys to be able to actually use and play any ROMs.

All those games are generally playable on the Steam Deck, and Switch 2 is expected to exceed it overall in portable mode. It's a console, so games that are made/ported to it can be optimized in ways that PC versions cannot. It doesn't have to deal with compatibility layers like Proton, and Switch 2 having dedicated hardware for DLSS and ray tracing means it won't have to dig into existing GPU resources and lower overall potential like what practically all AMD-based GPUs do right now. This includes the other consoles. Switch 2 even has some advantage over PCs with Nvidia RTX GPUs in them because some RTX features are not supported by DirectX 12+, like hardware-based BVH acceleration and interpolation.

Given that Nintendo is on a witch-hunt for emulators, I'm thinking that this will encourage even more people to succeed in finding a console hack.

It's really up to what decisions they make. I'll be very amused if game carts are dump-able Day 1 with preexisting tools.

Without a dump, there's no test sample. Worming there is step zero for an emulator- and I'm sure Ninty would be very quick to chop a head that's daring enough to start an emulator on their newest creations.

Have your popcorn ready.

If there is full hack with Switch 2 akin to Fusée Gelée exploit, emulator likely to be developed shortly and it is based on miracle.

Switch's Fusée Gelée exploit was ultimate miracle to hackers, so y'all can thanks to Nvidia for screw the security up and hopefully, Switch 2 do same.

GBATemp will go crazy monkey circus if Switch 2 is fully hacked.
