On Wii U vWii, the only way I could get this to work was using a DualShock 3 connected via USB, playing a game using WiiFlow with per-game IOS setting to an IOS with Fakemote module.

I couldn't get it to work under USB Loader GX nor the system menu, trying to force that IOS slot in Priiloader greeted me with "Error booting systemmenu! ES_DiVerfiy failed! Is the IOS patched? (r0x02b70b36)". Any idea what went wrong?

That's cause you are using a Wii U, so there is software differences. A lot of Wii homebrew is not made with Wii U compatibility in mind.

That's because a lot of people got a Wii and many people took years to find out the Wii U even existed because Nintendo marketing was a complete disaster starting with the console name. Yeah the Wii U sales were terrible.

As mentioned over ten thousand times naming the thihg Wii 2 or Super Wii would have basically doubled the first month sales.

That's not really an answer. I understand it's not the same. I wanted to know if I was running into a common issue or not, and whether there's a way around that.

USB Loader GX is quite old and has not been updated in a while, try using something newer and it might work.

About the system menu, there is homebrew that replaces it and can run with Gamecube controllers but you have to load it first, no clue if it would work with fakemote.

Besides that, well maybe this will help?

Sure it is about the USB gamecube controller, but closest thing we got.

It has recently been updated to add loading from SD card. I also tried this on WiiFlow Lite (which worked, but I don't think the controller did anything in menus) and am going to try on Configurable USB Loader, but I was mostly curious whether anyone has already found an ideal setup for this.

RVLoader? I'm pretty sure it's only for portablized Wiis. One could dream.

I didn't necessarily mean outright replacing it though, I wanted to at least have it load under IOS 58 modded with d2x and fakemote. The error message makes it sound like an additional patch needs to be added, but I am stuck at this stage.

Not the biggest issue ever as without a Wiimote, I can always push the power button on the console itself to shut it off, some loaders have a menu entry to go back to Wii U menu, and forwarders are pretty much a direct bypass (provided that I manage to get other controllers to work within).

Besides that, well maybe this will help?

I am still considering getting a Classic Controller or that GameCube-to-Wiimote adapter... not ideal, but at least it would work on unmodded systems too.

It's still very unstable in general, when I tried it on my Wii it worked flawlessly with Mega Man 9, but it would crash whenever I loaded Monster Hunter tri.

Most stable seems to be using the gamecube to wiimote thing with the battery park for the wiimote or at least rechargeable batteries for the wiimote.

Does installing this replace the functionality of normal Wii remotes or just work alongside them? I can't seem to see anything about it but I still like the originals and want to keep them working on my console

I have been trying to make fakemote work on my Wii, without a success.
I tried multiple ways within ModMii to install, the closest I could get was that the buttons worked but the cursor did not move even if changed the method of it with L1+L3 (I wish I remembered what configuration of cIOS was it) and it froze when I wanted to launch a game.
I tried many-many different configuratons, this was my latest one:

I really don't know what I am doing wrong. I tried to set Priiloader to everything between 247-251 without a success. The cabe can handle data, and when I turn on my wii it actually flashes once in amber and becomes unresponsive. I updated everything wth modmii to the latest version.

EDIT: updated SysCheck

Can u provide the complete syscheck? Looks like u opened the CSV in excel or something and just copied/pasted the first column. If u open in notepad u can copy everything easily

Edit: based on your description it's pretty likely the fakemote installation was successful, but you're experiencing some other issue (don't forget fakemote is technically still in beta)

Sorry I did not select the whole file; I updated it in my original thread.
I used ModMii to check if anything needs to be updated, but I think i am on the latest version of everything.
I just don't know how I was able to at least use the buttons at one specific time of trying things, and now even that does not work...

Things I remember trying:
- Using a custom cios installer
-patching 247 with a 249 FM cios
-installing 248-249 with the recommended advances d7x cioses
-updating and reinstalling priiloader
-heck even reinstalling 4.3E while keeping priiloader

Hi, is there any way to make fakemote work with dualsense? I've been trying to use it on the wii virtual console with cIos 252 for days and nothing seems to work. Could you help me?

Hello, so I got a few questions:
  • So from what I understood, this only works via cable, right? And what about Pair My DS3/DS4 apps, they apparently work via BT, so they would be the better options?
  • Which IOS is the best to install these? I heard people saying, 57, 58 or 60, but I'm unsure which one is the best between all.

Yes, it only works via USB with Wii games, not BT.

IOS58 enables support for both USB ports but has less compatibility with games. IOS57 is the best in terms of compatibility but only one USB port will work. I don't know about IOS60, It's probably to use Fakemote with the System Menu but i'm not sure.

Thanks for all the info!! :D
But then what's the catch with Pair my DS3/DS4? Seems way too easy, bluetooth and no installing cIOSes.

I've never used those apps before (I didn't even know they existed) but a quick google search told me that they're for homebrew apps only and not for Wii games?

d2x-v11-beta2 with fakemote 0.5.1 can be found here. Note if using it on vWii with the installer app you'll have to rename the ciosmaps_vWii.xml to ciosmaps.xml (edit: and rename the d2x-v11-beta2-FM051 folder to d2x-v11-beta2-FM051-vWii)

If you're using modmii you don't need to manually download it, just go into ModMii d2x options and select v11-beta2-FM051

Edit: the same applies to any version of d2x
