"Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition" coming to Nintendo Switch

One of the few remaining games that was still trapped on the Wii U console is now escaping its entrapment and making its way to the Nintendo Switch in 2025.

Out of the blue, Nintendo released a brand new trailer today for an upcoming remaster release of "Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition" for the Nintendo Switch, with improved visuals and added story elements. Xenoblade Chronicles X was originally released for the Nintendo Wii U back in 2015, and it was still one of the very few titles that remained exclusive to the Wii U. With this new announcement, this marks yet another title from the failed Wii U that makes its way into the Nintendo Switch, like Bayonetta 2, Super Mario 3D World and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, to name a few.

Rebuild humanity and survive on the mysterious planet Mira in this open-world action RPG! This visually enhanced version includes newly added story elements and more. The Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition game launches on the Nintendo Switch system March 20, 2025. Pre-orders are available now on Nintendo eShop.

The list of Wii U titles that are still exclusive to the system keeps shrinking, but there are still a handful of main titles that have yet to make their jump into the Switch, like Devil's Third, Star Fox Zero, the original Splatoon, and of course, the two most requested ports to the Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD & The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, with many rumours floating around for years now about both of them coming to the Switch at some point.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will launch on Nintendo Switch consoles on March 20th, 2025.

They botched the art style for me, just like they did with the remaster of the original Xenoblade Chronicles...

By the way, maybe it is just me being a picky designer, but that "Definitive Edition" subtitle in red makes the logo look disgusting.

My only hope with this version is they increase the god damn text size. How the hell am I supposed to read this on a TV?

FUCK YESSSSSSSSSS! WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO! Been waiting for this for YEARS!

Looks like they updated the characters' looks. And they look great!

Imagine improving the model meant to represent a 13 year old girl, and all you get are more requests for her uncensored outfits.

I hate Xenoblade Chronicles X, because it wasn't playable on the Wii U Gamepad. It was impossible to read the text in the game. I can't play on TV, because of my eyes.

Weirdos, right? All I care about is Elma and she looks AMAZING.

Damn, I can't wait to see how she looks later in the game. I also can't wait for the newly added content they teased in the trailer because goodamn I've been waiting on that cliffhanger for 10 years at this point.

I mean these are massive RPGs and in this case includes additional story content. Not like it's some 5 hours journey with zero replay value.
I don't honestly have a problem with it being full price, porting work isn't trivial.

I'm speculating, but I heard the Wii U version's sales figures hovered around ~350k? It's a big game so I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't make much return on its dev costs, so a re-release makes all the sense in the world.

It's a wonder they didn't do it sooner, honestly.

It's quite well known that most Wii U software was sold at a loss. So I can't be shocked that they are selling them for full price.

Not even Nintendo made games have good framerate on the Switch anymore so definitely do not play this game on the Switch.

Star Fox Zero unless its heavily reworked seems unlikely due to its heavy reliance on the Gamepad.
Devil's Third would be a miracle.
WWHD and TPHD needs to happen.
The original Splatoon i don't see that coming to the Switch unless they only focus on porting the campaign or they announce a 3rd wave of DLC for Splatoon 3 that brings Splatoon 1 campaign as DLC.
i think saving it for splatoon 4 dlc is the best bet
better visual remake and all
