Short answer: If you're just playing Wii and Wii U games, probably not worth the upgrade. Everything else, most definitely is. I'd suggest that you switch to it as soon as you're able to as it's much, much better overall.

Longer answer: Aroma comes with a bunch of plugins. From the ones that come included, I personally use Bloopair (for pairother BT controllers), FTPiiU (for FTP access in the background) and SwipSwapMe (for swapping TV and gamepad screens whenever I need one of the other if playing only on gamepad). Nowadays, it comes with the Inkay plugin which enables Pretendo which is a replacement for Nintendo online services. Other than that, I use Padcon (for turning off or putting into sleep the gamepad), re_nfpii (for amiibo emulation), GiveMii YouTube (for enabling YouTube app on Wii U to work once again) and many more. Even RetroArch's Aroma build is getting there, which is really nice, but for now I still use EnvSwap in order to switch between Tiramisu and Aroma because I have Tiramisu build installed on my Wii U.

You don't have to completely remove Haxchi from your system in order to use Aroma, just make sure that you don't use both Haxchi/CBHC and Aroma/Tiramisu at the same time. You'll need to remove CBHC, however, as you'd want to coldboot/autoboot into Aroma instead. Why keep Haxchi? Well, nothing much really, maybe just for the legacy reasons and if you're using some ancient homebrew that didn't get an Aroma port or similar/better implementation.
thanks for both, short and long answer hahaha...I'll give it a try once I hace time to do the steps. Thanks a lot for the info! 🤗

Sorry to bother again but, is it a way to migrate from haxchi to aroma directly? All tutorials I found were from Tiramisu :(

Yup! There's the Wii U Hacks Guide tutorial, just take a look at the "If you have an existing legacy CFW setup" part. If you have Haxchi, you don't even need to remove if you want, I keep it installed on my Wii U to this day, but if it's Coldboot Haxchi, you NEED to remove it.

Okay I'm bit confused with resolution and plugins in aroma. I use mainle WiiVC injects and bott2vwii for wiiflow. And my wifflow is awfull, the image is blurry and offscreen. I'm lost with evwii DMCU (meaning ?), WiiVC Launch, and Wiiflow resolution settings himself.
Note : I build boot2vwii forwarder with no FORCERES

Sorry to bother again lol...With Aroma can I use an HDD with 2 partitions? for example having a 1TB and splitting so I can use 1 partition for WiiU games and the other for vWii games through USB Loader? Thanks in advance!

What happens to the WiI U game channels that I installed that forward to Nintendont?

Will upgrading to Aroma from Tiramisu break them?

(Edit, i cant type today)

I think you'll need to copy the sigpatches for Aroma if these are injected GameCube games we're talking about but they should work exactly the same.

I have this weird issue where when I play a Wii VC title with the gamepad once I exit it gets stuck on black screen and I have to pull the plug to force shut the vWii, then if I turn my Wii U back on it gets stuck on a black screen unless I remove the SD and turn it on without the environment, then if I reboot and put the SD back in and turn it on it works, this issue did not happen with Tiramisu, why's it happening?
Fixed.

Well don't leave us hanging. 😝 What was the issue and how did you fix it?

I bought 25€ Wii U one month ago and I really enjoy thanks to you !!! ♥️
That's a very good price for the console, I hope you've got the gamepad along with it, too. Those things are really expensive to replace even in today's age.

P.S. Some Wii U models will have Hynix NAND chips that are prone to dying after years of use, you can fix that if you use a Wii U NAND-AID adapter, which overrides your existing NAND with a microSD card. As long as you've got the proper soldering skills to do a project like this (because of there being tiny points on the motherboard that you need to hit) you shouldn't be worried about it.

Very good price, I had mine for 80€
I've got a boxed Wii U in 2013, just one year after its release. I still have this 8GB model to this day, but I need a new gamepad or screen replacement.
