Hey people,
i am in the actual fw and atms Firmware. I installed the actual sigpatches a month ago. Unfortunately the game "thank goodness you're here" won't run. It always tries to connect with the Internet. Has anybody an idea? Are newer sigpatched needed?

Give sys-patch a try instead. Some people are having issues with the latest sigpatches for one reason or another.

I know that's not what you meant, but technically, when using emuMMC, save data is stored on the SD card, as the emuMMC resides on the SD card, and the saves are inside the emuMMC. But as you mention, with a corrupted emuMMC, probably impossible to recover them now.
Don't bother trying to correct me if you did not read the original post. He had backed up the contents of the emuMMC's equivalent of the Nintendo folder which for some reason contains a save folder but that folder does not contain save data contrary to popular belief. It is honestly way more effort to point out that even though the save data was on the SD card, it was not saved in such a way that a user could retrieve it by simply reading the files on the card than what I said just to reach the same conclusion. Unless of course you want to go the extra mile and also explain why the heck Nintendo decided to name a folder "save" when it has nothing to do with save data.
So, by extension, I understand you recommend to avoid using the sys-patch sysmodule. Any reasons for that? In my humble opinion, sys-patch works as well, if not better, than using sigpatches. And it's a cleaner installation, compared to installing a bunch of patches files on the SD card.
People have issues with sys-patch just like patches so you never "fix" the problem by switching between the two; you only change the root cause. Furthermore, as a sys-module, it can run into issues when users are running multiple sys-modules. In fact, one of the ways in which we troubleshoot patches issues is by disabling sys-modules as discussed in this thread. Quite frankly, its impossible for sys-patch to outperform patches unless there is something they patch that the normal patches don't. At best, they are two similar methods that achieve the same outcome such as Incognito or 90DNS.

I hope that this thread can answer questions that non-hacked Switch users have, but one thing that I've always wanted to know from the Switch Emulation/Homebrewing scene is the following:

  • In terms of the differences between Riujynx and Yuzu (and all of its other forks), how and why do people still prefer to use Yuzu EVEN AFTER Nintendo shut it down? From what I've gathered already, most say that it has a little better compatibility with lower end software and how it's versatile bit when I've tried using it, it doesn't have features that Riujynx has (changing a games framerate to match my monitor), and while the process to playing games is similar, I've experienced a little more crashes with specifically Suyu more than the latter
  • Unless you're doing it to either develop homebrew tools for it, to backup your games to play them on another device, or to play them through other means, what is the real reason to mod a Switch? As far as I know, i wouldn't want to mod my Switch becsuse Nintendo is really strict in terms of the modding capabilities of it and as far as I can remember, if you don't know what you're doing at least with the Switch, any mess up and you can permanently brick your console compared to a Wii/3DS/WiiU. The only other reason I could find is that you can make the console more than you can expect it to handle OR to run android on it if you cannot get an android device if you don't mind losing a little bit of features that a normal phone would have.

Oh and one last thing: I the case of a switch that you've gotten banned, what are you even able to do with it? Does that mean that you'll have to make a whole new Nintendo Account again to then purchase online once more? I don't get the push for Switch Hacking if there's just a whole bunch of stuff that you need to know in comparison to a 3DS. Makes me wonder if there's even way for you to go back just as easy as one...

Some of the capabilities a hacked Switch obtains:
· Run homebrew
· Run Android
· Run game backups
· Run games with mods
· Run your own developments
· Backing up owned games
· Overclocking (also, underclocking)
Those I can think of right now, maybe I forgot some. Homebrew alone is a huge deal as it enables things like emulators, using controllers from other consoles, video capture, streaming, media players...

As far as I know, bans are per console, not per account (unless you do stuff they really, really dislike, such as issuing chargebacks). So all you need is another Switch, and only if you want online, because a banned console can still do everything listed above. It just can't use the official servers.

IMO the pros, the fact that all of this is even possible at all, outweigh the cons by far.

Oh, and in the case of (unpatched) V1 Erista consoles, as long as you keep sysNAND clean, you can go back to the unmodded state, it doesn't require any permanent modifications. All other versions need a hardware mod, which can also be undone but not without a trace like on V1.

Hey everyone, just a quick question from someone looking to get into modding my switch.
I have the serial #: XAW10074185596 which according to this website is unpatched but this chart says it is potentially patched. I'm just wondering if there is any other way for me to be sure if it is patched or not. Also, I am running the latest firmware so I really don't know If I can even mod without a modchip. I'm just trying to figure out where I stand right now.

It might be potentially patched, if you really want to get an unpatched switch get one that 100% guarantees to be unpatched.

To add to what was answered above me, this is how you would test with a PC running Windows. A Mac emulating Windows might give false results, if I remember posts from a few years ago correctly. I would just install Rekado on a phone, and use that instead to push a payload. If the Switch runs the payload, then you're golden.

If I wanted to upgrade my microSD to a larger capacity one, would I have to redo the softmod from scratch, or is there a way to clone the current microSD to the bigger one?

I'm aware that the Switch creates a hidden drive on the microSD, which may or may not be cloneable.
