Homebrew Question Why use Daybreak to update firmware?

In short, AutoRCM doesn't carry a ban risk, but Daybreak definitely does. If your goal is to preserve AutoRCM without getting banned, don't use Daybreak to do it.

Daybreak is for dirty sysMMC's/emuMMC's that don't connect to the internet, are already banned, or have 90DNS/Incognito installed.

Righto. That's pretty much what I've been doing. I never used to bother with the emunand updates (figured if it works why fix it) But every so often it's worth it things like syncfix for your joycons (pairs joycons to both nands) really like you to be on the same fw.

I must admit I tend to wait or update to the 2nd newest fw just to make sure any problems have been worked out.

Ah. I thought it being an emunand (and using atmosphere?) could be enough to receive a ban.

As low as a risk as it is, it is still a risk nonetheless.

This is false. AutoRCM is not deleted when using official updater.


For example if your initial firmware is low enough, you can go back to software exploits if RCM method is tiring for you.

Depends on your fuse count, good chance it won't boot on lower firmware if you got very high fuse count.
