So are there no plans whatsoever to tackle all the option menus and the online mode menus? I've been playing this for the past 2 years with my friends and I know we would really appreciate actually being able to read the lobby menus so we don't have to fidget for 15-20 minutes while we try to remember what does what.

The option and online/lobby menu are simple to edit (take time for sure),
but i see that not so many people are interested in these 2 menu,
so for now i won't do it sorry.
maybe some day i will release a 4.0 patch but not now. ;)

I''m having trouble getting the game to work.
I followed all steps and have validated the filesizes.
When booting up a black screen is the result.

I also noticed you are using an older version of usb loader GX.
What cIOS is used?
Any help would be great.

Again, did anyone other than rebirth get this game to work on an actual Wii console?
I'm following all steps but keep ending up with a black screen.

For sure for 2+ people the patch works,
ummm you must do more tests, before put the iso on wii..

have you tried the dolphin emulator with the patched iso? Works? (try dolphin first)
if yes, the problem is your wii not the patching process.
if no, the patch will never works on wii.

what do you use to launch the patched iso? usbloarder gx? gecko os? (IMHO these are the best)

If you have the "same" wiiscrubber disc data size from the picture of the first post then
i think you have problem with your wii settings cios other things.

Let me know if you do it.

Is it possible a patch in riivolution format?

I think is illegal because riivolution launch modified files with copyrights,
is not a patch, it replaced iso files with ones in a folder.
so no sorry.

Full iso and scrubbe iso work flawelessly in Dolphin.
After applying the patch Dolphin also gives a black screen.
I think you patch is faulty, is there another way to patch it?

With scrubbing you mean deleting the Update partition and then scrub the iso image?
Or is removing the update sufficient? Somewhat unclear..

EDIT: tried both methods, iso is ruined after patching.
Unable to load on Dolphin or Wii.

BTW Your Takt of Magic patch works fine.

The ppf patch isn't the problem,
the problem is the base of the iso, (is the most important thing)
all here.

I need to know if you have the same disc data size: 3778070528 - 3.603MB
when you open your scrubbed zangeki no reginleiv iso with wiiscrubber,
match or not?
the size must match, then you can patch with ppf patcher.

[to make a scrub of the iso]
-Backup a untouched ZNreginleiv iso from the dvd.
-Open wiiscrubber and load the iso
-Then click the "scrub button on the left side"
-Now open the new iso
-You need to delete the partition 1, then see if the Disc Data Size match.

You can also use WBFS Manager 3.0 to scrub the untouched image.

If you still have problems
i will send you a package with the modified files to replace one by one with wiiscrubber ;)

soon or later, the patch will works don't worry.

I did excactly what you said, filesize is correct.
Still dolphin cannot load the game, neither can my Wii.
Untouched image works fine.
In dolphin, at the start of the game I can see the screen light up in a vageu grey shade, no respons after that.
Did you by any change edit/ replace the wiimote button strap screen?
Could this be the problem? ( just guessing )

I'd like for you to send the files to mannually patch the iso via wiiscrubber.
Thank you again for your hard work.

Ummm,
i tested the patched iso with USBloader GX (from a 8gb usb-pen) and on a dvd-backup with Gecko os,
and the game with the patch works great in both cases (No bug or crash)
i have a Pal wii with 4.3 firmware.

have you tried to launch the patched iso on dolphin or opened it with wiiscrubber, is everything fine??
works?

do this check first, :teach:

if dont work:

the iso must have the same size like i said in the first post,
look the wiiscrubber image under How To apply the patch

and if you still have this load-freeze thing, try to launch the game in another method like USBloader GX (the best way for my opinion)

IMHO maybe the passage from iso to .wbfs, may create problems.

i hope that will be fine.
Yeah, I'm sure everything is fine. Can't try with Dolphin though. And I'm having a similiar problem with the Takt of Magic patch, the game get stuck in the first loading screen.

But, as Hielkenator solved her problem, could you send me the files? And if it isn't asking much, the files for ToM too?

Thanks again :)

I can see the logic for the online menus as people rarely have friends with which to co-ordinate some good co-op play, but I fail to see how the option menu could possibly be labeled as something that people aren't interested in, especially given all the different ways you can change how the game controls. Heck, if you want a control scheme where you don't accidentally trigger lances all the time or if you want to actually strafe easily the options menu is very important.

I wholly appreciate the work that has been done so far, but I do hope that this menu patch does become a bit more extensive and, well, complete.

Hey Rebirth999, I am having the same problem. Can you send me the patch files as well. I checked my file size and everything. The game is freezing after clicking "New Game" Loved seeing the English upto that point though. I tried the patched ISO on Dolphin and USBLoaderGX and got the freeze in the same place.

I created a account just to get your patch, thanks in advance for your hard work.

Can you PM me the Packet also, I'm getting a Black screen in Dolphin. I converted it to wbfs to run it on the Wii and it runs, but it runs as if it has not been patched. Thank you.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
