It failed for me in Smash For 3ds, Mariokart 7, Mario 3d land, Street pass Mii Plaza, and Mario Maker 3ds. However after rebooting 2 times, the street pass for Mii Plaza seemed to show up
Sadly started happening to me as well when checking the 6th box on newest. Can share dump if needed, but looks to be the same exception and allI just updated NetPass. It worked fine at first. Now it crashes my n3dsxl every time I check it.
I started investigating, and found that Pokémon Rumble World was the cause of my problems. As soon as I deactivated streetpass for that, everything started working again.Sadly started happening to me as well when checking the 6th box on newest. EDIT: reinstalling newest fixed it for me
As far as I'm aware, that's been an issue that's been occurring off and on for the app in general: sometimes the icons indicating a Streetpass tag appears, but it won't fully register. Not sure if it's due to the app itself, or the way Streetpass functions normally. But as you've found out by now, restarting the system seems to get the tags to work as normal. (Putting the system in Sleep Mode - when the 3DS normally handles Streetpass tagging - might also work, but I haven't tested that myself yet.)Having an issue on Ver 0.2.2 where it just doesn't update the street pass data. I get the green notification light on games, but going into them there is no registered tags
Okay, given that it seemed to resolve itself after deactivating Pokemon Rumble World, it's likely that you had enough Rumble World tags on your system already that the tags downloaded through Netpass would have exceeded the 10 tag limit for that game. Some of my experiences and observations lead me to believe that this is what may be causing some of the crashes. As I noted in an earlier post, it's best to go through your Streetpass tags before launching the app (or deactivate Streetpass for any games you don't check regularly that have low tag caps, such as Pokemon Rumble World's 10 or Super Mario 3D Land's 3) to reduce the frequency of crashes. At least until Soru finds a way to address that issue.I started investigating, and found that Pokémon Rumble World was the cause of my problems. I'm not sure if that's what the reason is. I never check animal crossing, Mario kart , or super Mario 3d. It was only pokémon rumble that affected the app. I forgot to mention that I had an orange light flashing with the crash. As far as it not registering a streetpass, it only happened once on my other system. I had the same thing. I started turning off streetpass for each game that I don't check one at a time until it stopped crashing. It ended up being pokémon Rumble World.I'm getting almost the exact same thing View attachment 434788
Try reactivating each game one by one and after activatibg one open NetPass. Whenever it crashes it means last game you added has something wrong.Because of this, I have deactivated StreetPass for all of my games except for StreetPass Mii Plaza. And all of a sudden it’s not crashing.
I turned on streetpass for the same 4 games on both my n3dsxl systems. One works fine and the other is crashing now. It wasn't before. It was the other system that was crashing before. I don't have time to look into it till tonight.Try reactivating each game one by one and after activatibg one open NetPass. Whenever it crashes it means last game you added has something wrong.
Me too. I believe with the update this was improved, thankfully.I dunno if something has changed but I've suddenly been getting way more streetpasses that usual, before it was only about 5 max during the entire ten hour period. Now I seem to be getting a minimum of eight at once every couple hours!
Be sure to updateHi. I downloaded your app via QR code yesterday and it worked fine. In fact, I even got 2 streetpass tags on MiiPlaza. However, when I tried it today it failed to connect to whatever location I select.
I get the following error:
ERROR: Failed to enter location 0: -409
I picked the Train Station this time but the error is the same for every location, the only thing that changes is the location (0, 1, 2)
some games like ACNL can currently trigger crashes, soru isn't sure yet what the issue isI didn't even get an error code. When I used the app, it uploaded, downloaded and crashed about one second later. I could see the option to exit, but it crashed too quick for me to hit it.
Yeah, you gotta updateHi, I've just downloaded the latest version 0.2.2 and I'm getting the same error:
"ERROR: Failed to enter location 0: -409"
I can't connect to any of the 3 locations.
NetPass already does stuffs like managing to not download too much data, at least in the newer versionsOkay, just had another crash using Netpass, and while it didn't happen on 12/12 (which I assume Streetpass Mii Plaza is for my Streetpass list), it very likely once again was caused by the app trying to add more tags than could be loaded in for the game the tags were downloading to. This has led me to formulating a suggestion to resolve this issue, one that might require workarounds and research to work (assuming it can work at all). It'd essentially go like this:
I'm not entirely sure if any of this is possible, as I don't recall if any previous attempts to replicate Streetpass ran into and resolved similar issues. That being said, I can keep checking for these kinds of crashes on my end (and verify details if people are still having issues), and provide any information that may help to improve Netpass.
- When uploading Streetpass data, check to see how many tags are already present for each game with Streetpass active.
- Compare the tags already on the system to the max number of tags allowed for each game checked (this is the part that would require a good deal of research, as tag limits vary from game to game).
- When tags are being processed, have the server check to make sure there's enough "space" to allow tags for a game, and skip any games that have already hit their cap. Alternatively, when downloading data for a game after uploading Streetpass data, prioritize the oldest tags on the server first, and stop the download and treat it as "completed" as soon as the tag limit is reached, ignoring any tags still remaining. The latter would be similar to how Streetpass normally works, but I would not be surprised it would be more difficult to implement.
Edit: For those experiencing similar crashes (assuming you aren't deliberating attempting these crashes for testing purposes), the only thing I can suggest for now to avoid the issue is - if waiting at least 6 hours before checking tags - go into all games you have Streetpass tags for, and clear out those tags BEFORE you launch Netpass. This includes any Streetpass tags that you've acquired through official methods.
phantom green lights are sadly a thing currentlyHaving an issue on Ver 0.2.2 where it just doesn't update the street pass data. I get the green notification light on games, but going into them there is no registered tags
soru plans to look into thatIs there any way to make it display a game in your hands instead of netpass ring?
thank you!So thrilled that this has been created. Another great way for Streetpass to live on!
Thanks for all your hard work, also I see you used the banner!New release!
v0.2.3 just released! While soru does not think there are any bugfixes, it includes a bunch of stuff to make sorus life to fix bugs in the future easier. Furthermore it also prepares for some internal changes. As usual, just re-scan the QR code (it always stays the same, don't worry) or wait until universal updater has it available.https://gitlab.com/Sorunome/3ds-streetpass/-/releases/v0.2.3
