If i install swap drc and remove sd card will it still work?
That depends. You can’t really install a homebrew app to the system, and you’d have no way to boot it without the homebrew launcher, so you need the SD card anyway. Up until you run the app. After you run the app, then you can remove the SD card and it should still work. However, once you turn off the console, you’ll need to insert the SD card to run Swap DRC again, so yeah.

Guys, do you know if one can use this to play Wii games which support the classic controller directly on it?

And Gamecube games?

Swap DRC doesn't seem to work on ZombiU and Xenoblade Chronicles for some reason. I tried pressing L + Minus and it didn't work. Splatoon worked however which is weird.

Edit: 00f I'm dumb. Those games have the option to use the gamepad only.

Works on 5.5.3 !, and probably on 5.5.2 .
This makes Splatoon playable. It's so damn nice. Thank you so much for this mod.

Suggestions:

• Have an install where D-Pad is mapped even when not holding A. Sure, it'd be blind, but in a situation where Teammate 1 keeps using the same path, it'd make sense, and of course jumping to Spawn Point would be 100% reliable.

• Have an install where D-Pad Up triggers the special. Also have L trigger the special. Clicking right stick is terrible; the delay, the interference with the camera. Just terrible.

•Make it so that holding A temporarily switches the view even when using the TV as the main display. It's much better to just hold A to check the map than it is to look down at the Gamepad. Hitting B and then hitting B again is also inefficient. It makes sense for this to be part if the main install.

• Have an install with L as Special, and D-Pad mapped to jumps, except D-Pad Up which would be Special.

I've used HID to Vpad to remap L & D-Pad Up to Special, and it is such an improvement. I can't get Homebrew Channel to launch again after installing Swap DRC or HID to Vpad. I'm using browser exploits. Is it possible? Would it work with Haxchi?

Great work, @OatmealDome, @Yahya14, @Maschell, @Bkool999, @brienj, @MachMatic, @dimok, @Chadderz.

Using SwapDRCLite app, works well with Splatoon and some other games.

Swap DRC for TV-Only Wii U Games

FabulousWideHuia-size_restricted.gif

Introducing Swap DRC, a homebrew application that allows you to play TV-only Wii U games on your GamePad screen.

Swap DRC works by switching the display buffers for the TV and the GamePad with a press of a button. This app also includes the TCPGecko and Cafiine installers for other mods or hacks. The GamePad sensor bar can also be turned on when the TV image is on the GamePad screen, so playing with Wiimotes with just the GamePad is possible. The lite version of the app is also available which doesn't include TCPGecko and Cafiine.

Instructions

Switch display, audio, and gamepad sensor bar:
  • Press L and Minus together.
  • Press the TV button.
Switch on/off gamepad LCD:
  • Press and hold R-Stick for 3 seconds.
Splatoon's enhanced controls:
  • Press B to switch screens except in-game menus.
  • Hold A + D-Pad in any direction to super jump to a teammate or the spawn point during a match.
Requirements

Download (Latest: v1.3.1)

Get it from github! (If you don't know how to use the application, maybe read the tutorial below first.)

Get it from the WiiuBrew Appstore by clicking here, or get the lite version from here.

(coming soon)

Text
  • Download the Homebrew Launcher from here (download v1.3 if other versions crash for you), and the Swap DRC application from above.
  • Unzip both apps and then drag them into your SD Card. Make sure both directories are at:
SD:/wiiu/apps/homebrew_launcher/homebrew_launcher.elf
SD:/wiiu/apps/swapdrc/swapdrc.elf
  • Safely remove the SD card and insert it into your Wii U, then launch the Homebrew Launcher from loadiine.ovh in your Wii U browser. If you have the haxchi homebrew launcher, that works too.
  • Launch Swap DRC, then press A to install Swap DRC with TCPGecko, or press Y to install Swap DRC with TCPGecko + Cafiine (a cafiine server on your computer is required)
  • You're done! You can now switch displays anywhere (but not in the settings menu, as it re-launches the entire System Menu).
FAQ

What's TCPGecko and Cafiine?

TCPGecko is a mod that allows you to use a TCPGecko editor to modify the ram through a TCP connection. A
perfect example for this is the program Splathax, which lets you modify gear in your Splatoon inventory.

Cafiine is another mod that lets you replace game files with modified ones for the game to load. A perfect
example for this is the popular use of model and skin edits for Smash Bros for Wii U. Unlike the "Install
TCPGecko only" option, Cafiine requires you to have a server running on your computer at all times. Don't
use this if you don't want to use game file mods and have the computer running all the time.

Can I get banned playing online with Swap DRC in any game?

Swapping displays doesn't modify the games directly but through CafeOS instead. Therefore, it is 100% safe.
However, you can still get banned with TCPGecko and/or Caffine mods if you don't use them properly.

Where is the source code?

Over here, on our GitHub repository!

Tried using this today. After running SwapDRC from the homebrew launcher, it prompted me to install, so I chose 'A'.

I then tried to swap the screens on Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water, since it seems the gamepad doesn't normally receive all the game's audio.

Pressing L and then - had no effect. I tried pressing them closer together, nothing. The TV button also did nothing. I tried SwapDRCLite, but that wouldn't even start in the homebrew launcher.

Am I missing something here? Does it not work on Loadiine games? Anyone experience similar issues?

After trying again with a NUSpacked version of the game, I can confirm that indeed it does not work with loadiine (which is fine ultimately, since the game runs better on nand)

Is there any forwarder for SwapDRC?

I tried the lite version with just dances, and at one point the audio stops and goes back to the tv, does anyone know how to fix that? i think its a problem with the program, like the dev said, but i dont know how to change the code or something like that.

Why It doesn't work with Mass effect 3 Special Edition?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------
This is three years old, but when you close out of that game with CBHC, it returns to CBHC, not the System Menu.

The game's old, near enough launch (or maybe it IS launch) so it's more likely that it's loading in a unique way than actively flushing homebrew on purpose. There WASN'T Wii U homebrew back then.

This is a really great mod! I’m very happy that I found it. However, I was wondering if someone with more knowledge would be willing to help me change it up a bit so that I can simply mirror the gamepad screen on the tv without the tv screen being swapped to the gamepad. The reason for this is that I want to get footage of the gamepad screen while speedrunning the Metroid and Pikmin minigames in Nintendo Land. The tv displays a sort of sports camera angle that does a bad job at capturing the action, which is why getting footage of the gamepad screen is better. But if I have the screens swapped, I’m not able to play these games as well as when they're played normally.

From my understanding of this mod, it shouldn’t be that big of a change. If the only change I made was deleting the line of code that puts the tv screen on the gamepad but keep the line of code that puts the gamepad screen on the tv, it should work the way I want it to, right?

Looking at another similar mod’s source code (SwipSwapMe) and this one I think I can see the part of the code I’m aiming to remove. Problem is, I have no idea how to convert the source code to the file type I can put on an sd card and launch with homebrew. I’m assuming it’s got something to do with the makefile, but I haven’t a clue how to execute the makefile’s code. I also don’t understand the code well enough to know if my idea will even work to begin with (my programming knowledge is very minimal). Any help or suggestions are appreciated!

Does anybody know if a .rpx version of swapDRC was ever available? I have my environment set up to compile and build swapDRC but I'm unsure how to make it build a proper .rpx instead of a .elf

I'm cautiously optimistic I can boot it along with Tiramisu, like Bloopair does with its .rpx version.

No, there isn't the .rpx version of it.... But you can create the channel forwarder with Haxchi Method, and it will perform in the same way as .rpx Channel. Like the picture below.
