Likely a stupid question, but I honestly don't know; is there any way to get YouTube videos viewable on a DS via a hombrew app or something?

Yes. Not powerful enough to stream video properly, or indeed decode and play FLV video on-the-fly. The WiFi speeds are also pathetically slow, not up to streaming video.

Why would you want to watch a YouTube video on a Nintendo DS if you can watch on a netbook/notebook or A PHONE?

Because in the US many cell phone companies screw customers over... and that's not counting internet usage.
Also, a DS is more portable than a Netbook.

A, don't have either, and B, to help keep me sane while up at my grandparents house, 'cause it's probably gonna be the last time I see my grammy alive...

    EDIT: Thanks, twiztidsinz.
