Yes, they are.

Who knew we'd finally see a brand new GCN controller that's wireless and with rumble. Still, the analog sticks can't be clicked as were the original.

Do you mean a push-in click with the analog sticks? Cuz original Gamecube controllers do not have that function. (So it makes sense that the NSO repros would not also)

Edit: nvm, I figure you probably meant the L-R analog triggers don't have a click, which yes the original GC controllers did have a mild and mostly useless click at the end of the analog trigger travel. I could understand if they didn't bother trying to reproduce that.

The push-in clicks that would have been another improvement.

My first impression of the Switch 2 is that it's a bit too large. I find that it's nowhere near as comfortable as the Switch 1 is in the hands, and I find my hands cramp up after 10 to 15 minutes of play. The worse battery life to be expected from a more powerful handheld, but the hardware really doesn't seem much better than an overclocked Mariko Switch 1 if I'm being genuinely honest.

The screen being 1080p is nice, but it's nowhere near as good as the OLED's screen from a color standpoint. I only ever play my Switch consoles in handheld mode, but I do appreciate the utterly shocking inclusion of Switch 1 Pro controller and joycon support. I like how the new joycons attach, and the new joysticks do feel great - it's a shame they're not any more resilient to drifting though.

I also like that the console is familiar overall. It is exactly what a Switch 2 should be from a software standpoint other than the Cash button. Not sure why they put a C and not a dollar sign on it, but the Cash button is one of the silliest inclusions that I'm confused by. Who wants a button you need to pay to use? Hopefully we can rebind it with homebrew!

I hope the Switch 3 has a button that automatically takes money out of my bank account and transfers it directly to Nintendo if you press it. Or maybe they can start charging by the button press on the next console? Would be pretty neat if they also sold "pre-drifting" joycons so I don't have to go through the effort of making them drift myself. Just ideas for the next generation!

I bought the console on release day...
Mario kart is a brilliant game, the controllers magnetic function is very useful but overall I am not very impressed with the console.

The biggest drawback for me right now is the lack of new games, on release day wouldn't it have been remarkable if there was a new zelda game or the new donkey kong game was released?

I know donkey kong is due to come out soon but right now this console feels like it hasn't really made a lasting impression on me however, the jury is out and time will tell.

  • the C-Button is the biggest disappointment to me as I was hoping it stands for "Cast" aka the Switch in handheld mode being able to cast the image of a second screen to the dock and thus the TV, giving us proper DS, 3DS and Wii U emulation... instead it's for a stupid chat feature I'm probably never going to use
Dunno if the knowledge is any good to you, but you can remap the C button if it''s not something you regularly use. Obviously you can only remap it to other buttons, so might not be too handy, but having a screenshot button on each Joy Con might be handy.

I don't really get the whole new games thing. It was relevant back in the day when we had discrete generations and you literally couldn't play anything else, but who has already played the thousands of Switch games that they need something new right away?

Eh, sounds like PS5 and that console has been out since 2020. 😅

Edit: By "new games" I mean exclusives.
Yeah this is a serious problem for Sony tbh, nothing like a console with nothing you want to play!

Nintendo seem to know the power of exclusives and the knowledge of how the Wii U went so surely....:ha:

Yes I know, but I still want that dual screen feature. :P
