Gaming Xenoblade chronicles 3DS system update?

Hi

My Majora's mask 3DS XL is on 9.0 and I don't want to update to a newer firmware. Today I purchased Xenoblade chronicles but I'm afraid to put the game cartridge in my console in case it force updates.

I was wondering if anyone on here knows what system update the game comes with? Any advice? Thank you!

It comes with 9.4 but I think you can play it in GW classic mode.

Thank you for that I don't actually have gateway installed on my console. But I'd like to leave it on 9.0 in case I ever want to use gateway or for a higher resale value.

So if I was to install the latest gateway, would I be able to play my genuine retail cartridge without emunand?

Going by what I see on the rom's SDK info, you should need firm 9.3 to play it -- which of course means mandatory emunand. I could be wrong, (don't have the cart to test), so if someone could confirm/deny my claim, please do so.

Oh ok, thank you for your help I guess I'll just have to play the game on my standard new 3DS with the inferior screen
