Those tales come from people who believe anything and have no clue what they're doing in life.

But yeh. replacing it with the same model guarantees 100% compatibility.
Some revisions got a slightly different mobo plug.

ok. replaced psu, still doing it. i have noticed that if i tap the xbox it will shut off as well. any other ideas? or should i resign to buying a new one?

thought i would mention this in case it helps someone else. i reconnected the original ide drive and i get no crashing. the issue seems to be the kingwin adapter i was using for the sata drive, or the drive itself.
