I'm using Loadiine for the first time and have some WUD files. However it seems as though Loadiine can't read the WUD format. So how would I go about converting WUD files so they can be transferred to the SD card to be played via Loadiine? Thanks.

It is highly recommended that one not use Loadiine anymore. You should download games using Wii U USB Helper and install them directly to your Wii U's NAND or USB drive using WUP Installer GX. This works many times better and has 100% compatibility.

a wud is a complete disc rip each with a unique key. you can decrypt them with uwizard or other similar app. the key will be checked by its sha-1 to ensure it's the right one. I personally wouldn't mess with that though since you need them in installable format for use with a wii-u-formatted drive. if you do insist on using loadiine, the decrypted wud should do the trick.

Wish I would have known about this prior to starting the downloads of about half a dozen wii u games on a torrent site. Oh well.

What format does the USB drive need to be in to copy from the SD card to the USB drive?

installable games are in the .app/.h3/.tmd/.tik format. you can turn wuds into installable games using an app on this forum, but I've never personally done it. use wii u usb helper or similar app to download them directly from nintendo's servers.

Can I use an NTFS USB drive or does it have to be FAT32?

I love this program by the way. Surprised anyone would download via torrent rather than this app.

yes, there's no way to partition it either. the entire drive will be designated for the wii u. I'd advise against doing anything with it on your computer afterwards. the wii u drive won't like that and possibly force a reformat. btw, you place the installable files on an sd card. the largest game I know of is around 18 GBs I believe, so make sure you have a card large enough.

Downloaded a game from the program and had it automatically transferred to the SD card. However when I go to the WUPinstaller program the game doesn't appear. Any reason why? The card is fat32 formatted by the way.

And the game is located in the install folder.

the install folder is what you want. transfer it over manually if it screwed up. wii u usb helper should've asked you where to store downloads, so you should be able to find it there.

Do I need some sort of custom firmware for WUP to work properly? Will try to transfer manually later. Just trying to figure out why the game install folder wont show up.

you need either mocha or haxchi. you can exploit the system using the browser hack to get in the door. haxchi requires buying a ds game from the eshop. brain age is the cheapest, so I'd buy that. I use cbhc which loads haxchi at startup. as long as you don't do something stupid, it will work as intended indefinitely. stupid things are deleting the exploitable game, moving it, or formatting the system. if you want to do any of those things, uninstall cbhc first. I did this as my initial exploitable game was yoshi's island, but I got to the last stage in that, so I used brain age as my exploitable game. retail games won't require cfw. wii u usb helper will tell you which games do. it's basically anything eshop related requires cfw.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

btw, using wup will require cfw of some sort; otherwise, games won't be installed. I forgot about that query.

In other words OP, you seem a bit clueless on the subject. Read a guide or two from this site, not a YouTube video or an outdated guide from another site. You can start with my noob guide if you want but you need to understand the basics of "Wii U Hacking" and the different choices for CFW and whatnot

You only require CFW if you're running VC games, games you pirated DLC for, and eShop-only titles that didn't receive a disc release. To install and play normal Wii U games, CFW is not needed.

OP, which system version are you on? If you haven't already done so, be sure to block updates by deleting the update folder on your NAND: https://gbatemp.net/threads/block-wii-u-system-updates-without-dns-blocking.477944/

Edit: fixed. I think switching to the GX2 version of WUP helped. Also is there any disadvantage to installing to the system, rather than a USB drive?

Both Xenoblade chronicles x and nba 2k 13 are 22 gb there are a good few other games bigger than 18 gb as well.

Space is the only disadvantage. You don't have much room on the system NAND.

Fair enough. Just debating if I want to spend the cash for a separate external hard drive for a system that doesn't exactly have dozens of must have titles. I have the 30 gig Wii U version. So I can fit about four midsized games on it.

Also whats the best method to go about playing Wii and Gamecube games? Any other apps you would like to recommend too?

For Wii games, you can do normal USB-loading (e.g. Configurable USB Loader Mod) using the vWii like you would on the normal Wii. You just need to install the Homebrew Channel and vWii cIOS files beforehand.
Alternatively, you can install Wii VC titles like you would a Wii U game and launch them from the Wii U menu while running CFW.

For GameCube games, you can run Nintendont from the vWii, or you can run the Nintendont forwarder from the Wii U menu.
