Only if it had a whole lot of new and awesome features.

+1, I don't see that much room/scope for expansion/new ideas that wouldn't step away from the DS and onto something else. If it was a new system, I'd consider differently.

Is there any proof that there will be a new system, anyway apart from rumours and "they didn't deny it"s?

That perfect DS seems to be pretty elusive.
Well said. I had one which had a kind of blurry screen, then the power slider spring broke (ok, schoolmate dropped it) and I actually got a new DS after 30 days (damn long 30 days I tell ya). Now the DS I've got has a kind of wonky touchscreen, when you push it it creaks and in colors the right side (yes the right side again) is much less responsive, to pressure that is. Also the hinge cracked and I'm kinda planning getting it repaired but I don't want to be without it again

but the dpad is really faulty and terrible to use... Plus why the hell didnt it come with a thumb pad?
I quite like the Lite's D-pad, it's a massive improvment on the "Gameboy Advance 1st Generation" D-pad. The GBA's was really stiff, and it couldn't handle diagonals well at all. You're absolutely right about the Lite's sharp lower corners though.

About the thumb pad; there were a few rumors about people scratching their screens while using them, I assume that's why they were removed. I suppose it's easy to press too hard with the strength of a thumb. (and if you really want one you can order one from Nintendo as a spare part).

No

Thought not.

NINTENDO DENIES NEW DS MODEL

Nintendo Japan flat out denied today the possibility of a DS hardware revision for this year's E3.

Good to hear, I think that was the only proof of a possible new model soon to come.

I only got a new black Lite this week so I'd be pretty pissed if were just a redesign. I can't really see how they could make the DS nicer than the Lite model.
If it were a whole new machine altogether, with a slot 2 for DS, then I'd consider it.

I defiantly would. I always buy the new version of any console/hand held. Wouldn't have it any other way. It would feel out of date.

I doubt that a new redesign would have any significant new features, if a new one is out, it will be nothing more than the DSL was to the original DS.. so, I don't see a reason to buy a new one

I would buy it unless if it's D-pad was complete ass and I didn't have much money and if it was just a revision instead of a new DS altogether. But other than that I would buy a new DS.

Everyone would someday change systems as the demand for newer systems change, depends on the timeline and the trend. While many gamers still prefer and adore classics and past games, of course most of us will need newer features, newer innovations, and newer things to buy

I'd buy it if it fits my gaming needs.

And if it can be played with flashcarts(i mean they might release a flashcart-free handheld console

If Nintendo releases a new DS redesign it will probably be after the next gen handheld is released, and it will not have GBA support, just like the Game Boy Micro was released after the DS and had it's GB/C support removed. It will be smaller and cheaper, possibly with smaller screens. This is all conjecture of course.

When Nintendo releases a new handheld system I won't buy it if it's main selling point is a gimmick. I hate the touchscreen on the DS; for every game that uses it well there are 10 others that force you to use the touchscreen for no good reason, and 10 more that are based on bad touchscreen controls. I firmly believe that the DS would have more good games if it didn't have a touchscreen. I'm not going to be buying a Wii either, for pretty much the same reason.

I want game systems, not toys designed for toddlers and old ladies.

I wouldn't get another new ver although i did find the d-pad is bit too small for my thumb. But man, it still works for long trips.. so nope. N wouldn't get my $ next time

I would not. I'd probably buy a new PSP though...

Sorry, but I almost never use my DS Lite anymore: only game that I still play now and then is believe it or not, Asphalt Urban GT 2, PSP version sucked.
