so does anyone know how to get the cBoot2 Installer to work?

maybe the cBoot2 installer which is launched from the homebrew channel is being blocked, so if you already have it installed then you can use it because it loads with bootmii and has complete access/control of the console, but perhaps 4.2 blocked the installer.

shouldnt matter when you reinstall boot/ios from hackmii installer if im correct

I think we have a misunderstanding.

I already have bootmii reinstalled and working, but for some reason I am having trouble with the cBoot2 installer. I can't get it installed so I can't then proceed to use it to install cIOS

to get there you press home inhbc and click bootmii, then you'll boot in cboot2

thank you, but I'm not running the IOS version of bootmii but the boot2v4 version, so I can get to there by restarting my console

once there I can navigate through my sd card but as far as I know, bootmii is not designed to launch boot.dol files like the HBC is.

the cBoot2 installer is designed to be installed via the HBC and then launched from via bootmii. If I could get it installed it would be no problem to then launch it, my problem is that I cannot install it.

see this video to see how the installation goes when it DOES work

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMFHM626Ux4

see how the installation is done in the HBC, and then the wii is restarted to launch cBoot2. the problem is that mine gets an error during installation therefore is never installed so it won't launch when I restart/enter bootmii

then also install the ios in hackmii installer... then you can just use the home button > bootmii to get there..

yes, but that isn't the problem, it doesn't matter how I get to bootmii, as I said, bootmii is working 100%, it's getting cBoot2 to install/work that is my problem

installing bootmii IOS wouldn't change anything, I could still get to bootmii and it would work perfectly, and I still couldn't get cBoot2 to work.

have you tried installing the IOS, going to HBC, pressing home and going to bootmii?

If not, just try it..

yes I have, it starts up bootmii... just like normal. You understand that I have no problem running bootmii right? I just installed bootmii IOS again and loaded it via the homebrew channel menu, and it loaded, same as always, I have zero issues using bootmii......

my problem is that cBoot2 installer will not complete successfully.

WiiGator only posted the installer and demonstrated how you make it from Nintendo's files, but didn't provide a compiled version since it technically contains Nintendo's code.

Uhh, what?
ahaha so how do we go about compiling our very own cboot2

First, open NUS Downloader and select IOS36-64-v1042 from the database. Check "Decrypt Contents" and start the download.

You'll need to take the 00000004.app and cetk files (ignoring everything else) and put them on your SD Card in this directory:
SD:000000100000024\v1042\(stuff)

Then you'll need to extract BOOT2-v2-64.wad.out.wad from a game image (Twilight Princess, for example) and use an app called Wad Unpacker to decrypt it. When you do you'll end up with these files:

00000001.app
0000000100000001.cert
0000000100000001.tik
0000000100000001.tmd

You have to rename the 0000000100000001.tik file to "cetk" and rename the 0000000100000001.tmd to "tmd.2" Delete the .cert thing since you won't need it.

From there you put them on your SD Card like this:
SD:000000100000001\v2\(stuff)

Finally you can run the cboot2 installer and it'll make the armboot.bin file for you.

I get this problem with the cIOS r14 installer, it works perfectly until it says.....

[+] Installing Custom IOS, please wait...
>>Install ERROR! (ret = -1035)

[+] Finishing installation, please wait... OK!

Press any button to restart...

it didn't sound good but I tried USB Loader GX and NeoGamma R7 anyways but they both just black screened.

So I tried the installer again, and again, it seemed to work fine except for that one line. I used network install instead of WAD because I wasn't sure if I had the right wad on the SD Card. would that affect it>

Okay, see if this will change anything: Replace the boot.dol in the root of your SD Card with this one (but don't delete the one you have; back it up someplace):
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9197NCN9

Rename it to boot.dol and run cboot2 again. This time it'll load Wad Manager 1.4. See if you can get it to delete IOS249 and IOS250 (the Nintendo stub files). Then put the cIOS installer dol back on and try running it again the same as before.

Did you pick IOS36 when you ran it through cboot2?
