alright thanks for the clarification.

So I downloaded it and threw it in my apps folder

started up the homebrew channel, started the preloader installer, and it gave me the message

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY.....

.....

If you do not agree with these terms turn your wii off

but it just hangs there, I tried every button.

Failed to get ROOT, current IOS(36) had the fakesign bug fixed

thought so, well im stuck here, since I dont know how the DOP-IOS app works, if any1 can help out on this one please do so.

Preloader doesn't know to look in memory for the stuff patched by cboot2, so it makes sense that it won't work.

And once you have cIOS249 and 250 installed you should be able to use them to install Hermes' cIOS just like before.

I don't care about boot2v4 since I have an LU64. I'm ready to update to System Menu 4.2 via Nintendo. I'm going to try to use cboot2 again to install IOS38 rev14 installer and I'll be able to tell you my results. I only want to know if I can install IOS38 rev14 over the stubbed version. Is it safe to do that?

you won't be able to install it over the stubbed, you'll have to delete the stub with wad manager first

unneeded bullshit posts yeah?
Whatever.

Seems a bit convoluted to me...

I am aware of the loss of cIOS's. So, reinstall them. You can reinstall DVDx and bootmii when you update the HBC.

You do know the new HBC doesn't get deleted when you update now cause of the change of title ID??

So, how do you delete the stubbed IOS249 with WAD Manager? From what I know, I don't think there is an option to do that, but I'm not sure. Are you sure we can safely delete the stubbed version?

Yes, YOU are aware of it, but the people that read your post saying you only have to update hbc is wrong.
I understand what you're saying but it's quite confusing to ppl who don't know alot about the whole softmod thing.

Anyhow, thanks ofcourse for trying to help out =)

it may seem convoluted but it'll be the only way to install cIOS on 4.2 and up Wiis, so it's very useful. bootmii/cBoot2 is very helpful because they have control of the whole wii when you turn it on so there is no security to stop them doing whatever you want.

it is safe, you have to get WAD Manager in cBoot2, the link is a page or two back in this topic

when you load that then you can delete the stub, I did it and have USB Loader GX and Neogamma working fine again, it's safe.

come to think of it, I'm not sure how he managed to do it without having an IOS249 wad on his SD Card already. XD

Also, homebrew channel wont work straight from preloader as title id change. We need a version .3

Thanks buddy, I already have all the necessary files, because I used cboot2 to install IOS249 months ago. I'm going to try that now.

I did have IOS249 wad on my SD Card actually

I just hadn't used it yet, but yes you have to have the wad that you want to remove from the system on your SD Card. I was actually wondering what to do at first when you guys told me to do that, but I happened to have 3 WADs on my SD card, I thought to myself "but these are on the SD Card, how does that help me get the stubs off of my Wii" but I just tried using the WAD I had and said to uninstall it and it worked.

speaking of which FenrirWolf, should I try to find a 250 Wad to uninstall it also? or was uninstalling 249 sufficient.
