On firmware 2.0.1. Anyone know why the console keeps freezing after about 5 minutes of use? Contacted ATgames...they are hilarious...seem to be using AI for customer service now. Thanks.
I assume that started happening after the upgrade and now you cannot roll back.
IF that is true then I'll pull the file from the share here.

Help! Atgames 2018 sd card Sega Genesis black screen and error.

Hello, I've tried everything to unbrick this device and not sure where else to turn. Any ideas beyond what's in the forum? No updates succeed, I used the utility to set up SD card. I can get into android setup using MENU button after it says error, like a standard Android phone, but nothing works there either. Even restoring from SD. Do I need to back up a good model first and try restoring?

Any idea on what else I can do?

Has anyone seen this before on a possibly failed hardware chip or failed mod?

What exactly happens when its powered on without the SDCard.

This is everthing that I have for the device: AtGames Sega Flashback FB3680

No SD, No cart, for 1 second shows androids 3 color circle and immediately shows a black screen and centered in the middle of the bottom of the screen it says 'Error'. If then I push the MENU button, it goes to the standard looking Android menu screen.

Also, I did have the zip you provided and tried everything. When you put the update.img on the SD and boot, it says for approx 3 to 4 min, updating system, like its actually updating. No change. The results I posted above in the pic.

Very interesting.
Good info in that screen shot.
This moves the scene tiny bit forward, even tho its at your expense.
Using a Google image search on this image pulls up some options.
Have you tried to wipe the cache partition?

Edit:
"like a standard Android phone, but nothing works there either."
So you've also tried the factory reset?

Also you must use a micro SD card that is formatted FAT32 and 16GB or smaller.

Custom Firmware only touches the emulator and data partitions, it shouldn't brick the console.
You are seeing the recovery screen, the OS partition is likely broken. You will need a full flash and the rockchip tool to try to recover the device. I don't think a IMG file with the full flash will work, you will need to solder 2 points to enable USB data transfer on the board. Post 72 has the solder points to enable USB data transfer (red traces)

While this post is for the Genesis Flashback 2017, the driver, tool and instructions are the same. Post 572 has also some information.

This is a full flash from the Genesis Flashback 2018, I will leave the link online for a few days. There is a readme file, backup the device before trying it, even if the OS partition is already bad.

This is a hardware problem. I've tried multiple images, even flashing the image from a completely different model (Legends Flashback), and the device still freeze. There is a Youtube video of a guy "trying to fix it" (without success), and some people in the comments speculate it could be a SRAM issue.

Yes I tried all options, wiping the cache partition.

Yes I tried the factory reset.

Yes on 16gb and smaller SD formatted fat32. Was using a 1gb drive. Followed instructions to the T.

Ok so then these may just have had something else happen to them.

Roger that. Only seeing the recovery screen when update finishes, fails and then I press the reset button. Takes me right to the Android Recovery Options.

Oh great, I suck at this part. Wish me luck.

Thank you for the info, Ill check all 3 posts. So I cannot use the below file unless I do the soldier?

I can't verify this is related to the firmware; the freezing issue may have been present before the upgrade.

I did however conclude with a stopwatch the freeze is like clockwork every 10 minutes...literally almost to the second. Power cycle and it will run for another 10 minutes exactly and freeze.

If I can get the old firmware, I could try rolling back and see if the freeze goes away.
