Hacking Wood R4 V1.20

I just updated from v1.15 to v1.20 and now it says "Couldn't Find _DS_MENU.DAT". i checked it over and made sure that i have it at the root of my card. how do i fix this?

This are what i have at the root of my card :

_rpg Folder _DS_MENU.DAT
BeUP Folder Homebrew - Games Folder

Am i missing anything?

Most highly the one on the root is the old version of the _DS_MENU.DAT.

Try and re-put the 1.20 contents into root again. overwrite

i did just as you said, i even tried the one from filetrip and the one from linfoxdomain both resulted into the message.

put the homebrew folders in a safe place for now and try again with a clean sd card. it would also help if you told me what flashcart it is. R4i Gold? R4DS? R4Revolution? etc etc.

oh, sorry i'm using an original r4 with a 2gb, i can't format it since i lost my microsd adapter and i can only connect it to my computer via my phone :'(

He already stated from FileTrip, & LinfoxDomain.

My suggestion: Reformat using your phone (I know its not the best software to format with but we need to clear the data). Copy over v1.20 files only and try that. If it boots, then we're good and its time for you to waltz into a market and buy an adapter for your MicroSD.

Your phone should have a format option, if you tried to access files from the MicroSD from your phone you should find an option to format the MicroSD. Phone model?

Format the memory card:
Some supplied memory cards are preformatted; others require formatting. When you format a memory card, all data on the card is permanently lost.
1. To format a memory card, select Menu > Gallery or Applications, the memory card folder , and Options > Format mem. card > Yes.
2. When formatting is complete, enter a name for the memory card.

do i need to use another firmware to use the .nds file?

EDIT : i used the original v1.18 firmware as the main to use the .nds file but it still says couldn't find _DS_MENU.DAT

If i not wrong, there should be a .nds in the download. I'll check just in case.
