Their architecture still differs. The Tegra series chips arent identical to the Ampere series chips.They're both armv8. Why would the instruction set be different? I'm a bit confused as to why they aren't hardware compatible.

The CPU instructions should be nearly identical as its till ARM. Maybe the Switch 2 has a few extra ones due to being newer.They're both armv8. Why would the instruction set be different? I'm a bit confused as to why they aren't hardware compatible.

The GPU instructions are likely entirely different as GPU instructions change quite frequently between generations. thus games compiled for the switch 1 GPU wouldbt be 100% compatible with the switch 2 GPU. Same thing on PC 2 different GPUs need separate shaders compiled for them.
