compatible with r4 clones
For me people who buy R4 clone, especially R4i, are totally without respect...
Does anyone else see the irony of this statement? Not everyone knows the R4 they're buying is a clone.
Being ignorant is not an excuse.

So many people have bought cards, paid their money and -THEN- come to GBAtemp and ask questions.
Some of them even immediately after placing the order.

When you're going to buy something, spending your own money, do YOURSELF a favor and ask first then order.

So now we have some R4 users (apparently the people who bought exact clones of the original, non-SDHC version, that do seem to work with Wood) criticizing the users of other R4s, that are just other types of clones?

lol, that's ironic all on its own. You're all R4 users, guys... you have no ground to stand on while bashing eachother, and absolutely nothing to be proud of, whichever flavour of clone your R4 is. Leave the R4 bashing to the owners of better carts.

Clone R4 users are not R4 users in the same way that R4 Ultra (AceKard clone) users are not AceKard users.

I just thought of a different suggestion after posting on a thread earlier, but maybe the option to rename files would be a great addition to the menu (make DSO even more useless when compared to Wood xD?)

That would be a great and simple addition to Wood/RPG/AKAIO.

You should already be using a ROM manager to rename your files, so it's not really needed. Then if you rename a file, it also has to check if there are saves and rename them. It's better just to have them properly named before you put them on your MicroSD card.

xD I just like renaming for different purposes. One of them is because for some immensely idiotic reason, I attempted to keep a _DS_MENU.DAT for ysmenu, r4firmware, moonshell2, and woodr4 (I renamed them *_DS_MENU.DAT so they could all be in the root) in the unlikely event that I got fed up with having a certain menu autoboot (I'm nuts, but meh)...I guess an actual use for having the ability to rename files would be when using Moonshell2 and the stuff it gives out when it makes stuff (like when it saves a text file or when a voice recording is saved). It also might be able to help some people who were in a rush and only had time to dump the files on the SD before dashing (though in my case, it was homebrew and either way I couldn't do anything on the go since my DS is busted xD)

-edit-
I've never used a ROM manager before...then again, most of my stuff is homebrew anyways xD. As long as I have some icons to swap for those homebrew without icons and some header info to go with it, I'm all set to put it on my microsd

All Wood/RPG/AKAIO is missing is renaming from being a self-contained file manager... It's got Cut/Copy/Paste/Delete already.

I do the exact same thing.
Before WoodR4, I had _DS_MENU.ms2.DAT (Moonshell2), _DS_MENU.ysm.DAT (YSMenu), _DS_MENU.r4.DAT (R4 1.18), _DS_MENU.r4li.DAT (R4li/R4iLS 1.24) and would rename the one I wanted to use.

I don't think anyone got my original post. The irony was that R4 users could be condescending towards clone R4 users for buying and using fake R4s when they themselves are playing on a game cart which allows you to copy and play whichever DS game you want.

I don't think you know what "irony" means.

Truth be told, I don't think he is rephrasing his ironic comment correctly, though to reference his original ironic comment, I think its safe to say that most of the R4 users bashing on noobs that bought clones know about the better carts well enough to say that getting an R4 clone is almost one of the worst things you could do and thus only people that have no idea what they are buying apart from the fact that it "does things" are buying said clones.

I think someone needs to be re-educated in the english language.

Please, do educate me on the use of proper English, Mr. I-Don't-Know-Or-Care-To-Capitalize-The-E-In-English.

You're saying that R4 users (A good, but outdated card) being condescending to Clone/Fake R4 users (Typically poorly made and ripped off) is "ironic" since both groups of people are using flashcarts.
But as I said... that isn't ironic.

If you mean 'both groups of users are using a device not made by Nintendo and therefore not official' it makes a little more sense, but is still not ironic since that is the nature of 3rd Party peripherals like controllers or memory cards.

If you mean 'both groups of users are using a cheap device in order to play backups of games' it also makes a little more sense, but is still not ironic since the value of the product has nothing to do with it being counterfeit or real.

I suppose this won't happen but it would be great if you could play music files directly from the menu or maybe even movie files. I know it's a big ask but i'm sure YWG is perfectly capable of this... pleeeaaaase!
