Hacking Wood R4 1.28 not working

I recently got back my original R4 from my friend, whom he borrowed for a really long time. It still has v1.0x Wood

I'm trying to update it to Wood R4 v1.28 but it's not working

What am I doing wrong? This is what I did

1. Deleted everything on the sd card

2. I downloaded Wood R4 1.28

3. I unzipped the _rpg folder and _ds_menu.dat file to the root of the sd card

But when I turn on the DSL, the R4 isn't detected and won't auto start. I just get the main DSL menu

-My DSL works with my M3 Real
-I blew on the R4 and slot-1
-The R4 was working when it had the older Wood R4 firmware

You need to format your card, not delete everything.

Try blowing some air in the slot-1 of the ds and in the R4....
This is what I do when this happens to me...

You just need to install properly on the flashcart. Following the guide, and formatting with Panasonic SD formatter.
Then, blow into the slot-1 and the slot where your Micro SD goes into.
If that doesn't work- then its quite possible that your flashcart is broken.

It's a hardware problem, not software, blow a bit air in the DS Slot and on the R4 Contacts, and put the R4 in the DS, if it doesn't work, try an paper trick like many on the Acekard...

You say it's not working. But "is not working" is not enough information to say about the problem except the open doors like "format with the Panasonic formatter", "use a 2GB SD card and not bigger", "try the paper trick", "what website is on the box" and more generic remarks.

If you want more help then you have to provide a little bit more information then just "is not working". For example, was it still working when you got it back from your friend with the old Wood R4? What does the display say when it is not working? Did you make a backup of the old setup and if yes, which files are on it. Does the official R4 1.18 software still work.

So much more information you can give, which really enables us to be much more helpful to find out the cause of the problem.

Windows thinks your SD card is just a disk. The Panasonic SD formatter knows it is an SD card and creates a filesystem with settings that are optimized for it. This will increase the read/write speed which sometimes makes the difference between not working and working okay.

Where would I download a good Panasonic SD Formatter? I found a couple and there's a beta version. I don't know which one to download
