The pins on my Wii are really wonky looking, unlike regular cut pin Wiis. They look very irregular. That could very well be the problem. Either way, he got it for cheaper than off of DiscoAzul plus an added bonus.

Bended the legs by mistake?

No, the legs on the Wii weren't bent or anything and the Wlip wasn't touched - although I did try their alternative method. I'm thinking that my Wii just has shorter legs and therefore is harder for it to work.

Is there a Wlip review or impressions somewhere? I'm really thinking about buying one, but it look like nobody commented on the quality of the product yet...

Any GBAtemper installed it and want to share is thoughts?

This is basically what's holding me back from getting it. Seriously, if anyone could even find a Spanish site that has info/pictures/review of this product, I'd be satisfied.

I guess I'll try "Google lang:es" now.

That and the fact that no place is selling it right now?

So far the only person who needed it for cut legs couldn't get it to work (possibly due to the fact that their console had strangely cut legs that weren't big enough to work as a contact). I'll post a trip reports when I get done installing the Wlip (I bought his).

I can chime in quickly about the build quality of the Wlip. I have an A model that was meant for non-cut pins, and the Wlip fits very snug on the drive chip. I still went ahead and taped it in place. The final build I got isn't as nice looking as the once they advertise, but honestly, I couldn't care less about how it looks. Interestingly enough for me, my wires were long enough that I was able to snake the end of the wire out at the top of the Wii where the GCN ports are, so that's what I did to make access to the PIC quick and painless for reprogramming. Again, I don't care what it looks like, I just want it to work!

Pigiot just got his programmer in and has offered to program a YAOSM for me. So I've sent him my contact information and a promise that I'll send him out the rest of the PICs that I have. Hopefully he'll take my word for it and send out the PIC tomorrow so I can post back later this week. I'm going to ship his PICs as soon as I get his address from him.

Well, there is a forum in Spain where lots of people have tried it and reported on it and shown pictures.

The consensus is this:
a)it's cheaply made "by hand" but works surprisingly well.
b)Because of this, it's considered grossly overpriced (a piece of molted plastic with a wire badly inserted and a socket)
c)About 50% of users say installation is not as "trouble free as claimed" (this is expected from all "solder-free" solutions ... they are finicky with placement, preassure, etc). They say it takes a long time to "get it right" and that a multimeter probe to check the contacts is very recommended.
d)About 10% of users are very dissatisfied, but some 70% feel ok and think it's worth it for them.
e)Many report intermitent problems after successful instalation, but still think they are rare enough to be worth it.
f)Everybody agrees: support, service, etc from the store that carries them exclusively so far is HORRIBLE, with ample delays, claims of stock when there is none, sending wrong versions or whatever. They do, nonetheless, try to answer emails and try to apologise, but plenty of broken-promises. They don't accept returns.

In short: this is a cheap, home-made product that can not keep up with the demand and therefore has a hard time fullfilling orders and giving proper service. It's grossly overpriced. But seems to work better than expected given the low production values and, although a bit finicky, could serve some users that can not/do not want to solder anything on the Wii's controller. It's not "the best of the best" but it's also not a non-working-piece of junk (except for the usual 10% of customers which it didn't work for). So I'd say it's a little below what one would expect from it, definetly overpriced, but could serve its purpose to those in need.

Somebody should definelty make a proper "clone" of this thing.

Against my better judgment I didn't tape the clip to the board but it seemed to hold quite good and I was able to install it just as quick as the video was done. I guess that I may be lucky and I am glad. I installed it last week and have dumped some of my games to test it and has worked flawlessly to this point! Just to let ya know I had the A version.
As far as dumping goes I had a bad time in the beginning but that was due to using the aftermarket WiiKey version of the SD adapter. I found that the case of the adapter was not big enough to hit a switch that told the Wii that there was a Game Cube Card in the slot. I used some Post-Its and some tape to bulk the one side of the WiiKey SD adapter and now it works. Other than that it worked good. I also ordered a Gecko SD adapter card and it seems to be much better built and as soon as I inserted it in to the Game Cube card slot it instantly recognized it and work very good so if you want to try to dump a game, I recommend the Gecko SD adapter card.

Lol, I cant wait for the wlip to come back in stock. I knew I shouldn't have gotten my credit card so late..l

Great! Pigiot has generously agreed to ship me a YAOSM 2.0 PIC for free tomorrow. And, if I understood correctly, will program future YAOSM PICs for me if I send him the PICs I have here. I should be able to post back later this week with an update on whether or not my YAOSM actually works properly or not! I'm going to keep the PIC hanging out of the top of the Wii just for ease of access.

Thanks Pigiot, and stay tuned for another A model review this week!
