I was thinking about implementing a Wii U homebrew app that loaded other OSes, but never got around to writing it. Doing so is definitely possible: by patching the Cafe OS kernel, you can run anything in PPC kernel-mode, including a Linux kernel. If there is sufficient demand, I may pick this project back up.
I would love myself some linux. I am pretty sure i am not alone.

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking, if PowerPC were the only requirement we could actually load anything pre OS X 10.4.8

I have been messing with Hackintosh since like forever, so yea, I already understood that. But anyway, what you said is true about most operating systems. Linux runs like shit on PS3 without some work, but it could be an exception here I guess because of gc/wii and vwii linux. Can probably reuse stuff. Don't know without looking though.
Either way, would be fun to mess with.
Running Linux, Android, and DarkSide OS would be extremely useful for me!
Hmm, wasn't PPC support dropped with 10.6? Iirc, there was a PPC version of Leopard. That would be so cool for it to work on Wii U.
I know that there was a way to get 10.5.x working on PPC Macs but it was really hacky and involved downloading the update to the hard drive of another computer and then swapping hard drives between the two computers. So I guess it would be possible but not exactly preferable

And iirc there is something like "Intel version" written on my 10.5 install disk, so there is probably a "PPC version"...
Are you sure you're not talking about Snow Leopard or even Lion? Because the Mac App Store were released in 10.6.6, and updates were not available to download before that.

OsX would be harder to port I guess as the drivers (kext files) aren't available as easy as compiling a linux module.
Linux itself, for example in a minimal version, is probably much easier as we should be able to cross-compile the modules we need on demand. An from that point a wii-u ppc distro can evolve.
I personally see no point in doing it beside that I'd love to explore the wiiu from within a linux running on it. But for production use i'd use something external if I need a server e.g.
