Hey guys!

Welcome to the official thread for New Super Classic Mario, my new rom hack for NSMB2 that aims to recreate most the classic Super Mario levels from the NES (and some surprise extra levels) in the better engine and with better graphics! Below are some screenshots of the level.

While this is pretty cool, I've seen a ton of rom hacks that go like this. I think you should try to stand out. Maybe make the graphics a bit more old-school, perhaps edit some of the levels and add new powerups.
Did you really think it was possible to add new powerups? It'd require very, very, very advanced ASM hacking, like the kind of things never done before.

Well you could also add powerups the original nes game doesn't have.
No, I mean it requires modifying the games in a very complex ways. The only thing Newer Team did to add the Hammler Suit in Newer SMBWii was replacing fireballs by the hammers thrown by Yoshi, and that was already a titan work. How do you think a beginner could do that while no ASM hack exists at all?

I already heard you and I mean't you just add powerups the game that this rom hack is trying to recreate does not have.

I hope you know I'm not just doing SMB inspired stages. There's going to be stages inspired by other mario games on the NES...

Neato, but the text doesn't really say that.
that aims to recreate all the classic Super Mario Bros levels (and some added extra levels)
I think maybe change it to

I was just saying i've seen like lots and lots of rom hacks that do this and I was just saying maybe try to add some stuff that wasn't there, you won't get fully bored just trying to recreate a grid and the players won't feel like they're just playing yet the same game again.

Here's an idea, you can call this Super Classic Remix or something where you recreate the original games but add a twist like maybe no floor or it's upside down or it's a underwater level. Like I said this will allow you to not be in a tight area only just copying some grid and will allow you and other players to have a new experience.

I was thinking of using Worlds Mushroom, Flower and Star for these original and remixed levels... There isn't going to be enough room throughout the main six worlds for all the levels throughout SMB 1, 2, 3 and Lost Levels.

You can always have one world be like the "Starter Levels" where it's just the first levels of each game. Then you can make up the castle ones, but really I think this rom hack would be way more fun if you added some crazy twist to it. There's this guy who made rom hacks of smb where there's some twist like auto scrolling or you keep running or you can only jump one block high, and they're pretty fun to play.

Thanks for the ideas. Right now I just want to focus on the main six worlds but will definatley bring your idea into consideration when starting the extra worlds! If you want to help with level building etc. please PM me, I could really use the help and you seem like you know what your talking about. It would be greatly appriciated! :yay3ds:

I would like a Predator game "Kill Team" it takes place in the Jungle of the first movie, your team is sent to hunt the predator, using current tech drones and a trained team. Set traps use strategy to hunt and trap or kill the predator.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Ill stick with my Battlefield. Yea a predator hunting game like that would be cool. Esp if you can be Arnold and say "Get to da choppa"
    +1
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe Arnold could do a cameo voice acting, he is the one briefing you on the mission

I went today and looked at a motorcycle someone was selling. I get there and the battery on it was dead, so the guy grabbed a battery charger and hooked it up. He plugged it into the wall, and the motorcycle sparked and started smoking. Come to find out the bike uses a 6 volt battery and the guy had the charger set to 12v. I said sorry to the dude and walked away. I felt bad for him tho.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
He ruined it basically. Sad cause it was a decent old bike. It would take more money to rewire the bike than it was worth tho.
