Halo 2?

A lot of supposed Vista only stuff works on Windows XP... Even Geometry wars was made to run on XP and it was supposedly Vista only.. Microsoft were trying to force the games players to move to Vista so they made some game Vista only, along comes Mr Hacker and makes then run on XP, red faces at Microsoft all round...

XP has the largest install base of any desktop OS, it will be a long time before it dies out, Windows 7 may well be ( at last ) a real reason to upgrade.

Retail has already been leaked for a while now and Microsoft want to announce it now. But thanks anyways!

The binaries may have leaked, that is true. We won't know for certain until an iso image of it does (like off technet) and it matches crc and hash checks of the official iso.

Obviously you didn't read any of the links...

From the official microsoft windows 7 blog.

Today after all the validation checks were met, we signed off and declared build 7600 as RTM.

From arstechnica. a realiable news site. Supposedly 7600.16385 leaked a number of days ago again, but the source wasn't an iso file, it was binaries that a release group then converted into an iso.

QUOTE
The RTM build is 7600, but it is not the same one that leaked less than two weeks ago (7600.16384). We speculated that Microsoft may end up recompiling build 7600 until it is satisfied, but it only took the company one more shot to get it right: 7600.16385 is the final build number.

And if that isn't enough a microsoft press release.

Ah yes, thats true. So now we play the waiting game. The supposed sign-off date is July 23rd I hear so it shouldn't take much longer.

With only 5 days left until Windows 7 is RTM, is anyone planning on getting it? I've been using the release candidate for awhile now and am pretty happy with it. Can't really go back to Vista now...

Those on Technet subscription are supposed to be able to get it soon after it reaches RTM, while general public availability willl be October 22nd.

I get free software through my school so I can't wait for this to release =]

By the way, RTM is version 7600.16385, and it's released to manufacturers already
