Microsoft however doesn't recommend this version for the beginners for it is still in development and therefore unstable and insecure.

You also cannot upgrade previous Windows installations to Windows 7 RC. You need to make a clean install which will also be the case when the final Windows 7 comes out. Beta or RC versions can neither be upgraded to final version.

Windows 7 RC Customer Program

I've been running Windows 7 build 7000 for a few months now (with Super Bar enabled) and have to say that I like it much more than Vista - and I really liked Vista. I'm downloading the RC1 now and will install later tonight or tomorrow.

CrimsoniteX - what sort of improvements are there over the beta?

Heh it was going to take 72 hours for me to download, but I turned my PC around 180 degrees and it finished in 2 hours

nope

on a side note, why do u think starcraft sucks?

Thats quite long, will have to install it on the weekend then.

Also the starcraft thing was just a little something I had in my sig in the good old days so I could troll people easier!

For one it seems a bit faster, and less memory is being used by Windows 7 itself. It's not as glitchy graphically, and all my drivers were working out-of-the-box this time, where in the beta I had to run out and DL a few things. There are several new refreshing themes, and the ability to stream your windows media player library over the internet is sexy. Although I haven't used it, there is also an XP mode which runs a virtual XP environment naively inside Windows 7.

I'm downloading at ATM.
Pity that I'll have to perform a fresh install when retail comes out....
I guess that the only programs I use (firefox, mIRC, a fuckload of open source stuff, adobe CS4,) can be installed loads....

downloading now! surprised at the DL speed! at the 7000 release, it was crawling...

Will clear up some HD space for this!

So apparently, you can go from Vista SP1 to Windows 7. xD
Is that a favorable choice or no?
Since, if I want to dual-boot I'd rather always boot into Vista without that menu and go into 7 when I do that F8 thing or whatever.
