Oh. My. Fucking. God.
Can you READ THE POST????? Nowhere is he talking about being unbanned or not being banned anywhere else.
He's just saying that it COULD be harder to detect that he's doing questionable shit in one of the NANDs, if he keeps his online activity to another.

I really should just get the fuck out of this forum for real, why am I rotting my brain cells here
and thus not risking a ban.
Cool your jets dude. I'm explaining why this might not work

No you're not. You're talking about a completely separate scenario that no one ever mentioned, you're just reading what you want to read before spewing out your own theories.
It really does upset me when someone asks a perfectly fine and thought out question, and people start bashing him cause one idiot posts without reading the post properly, and then people continue to discuss based on the first repliers points, while ignoring the actual OP at hand.

Kinda off topic, but if I previously did a backup of my nand could I use it later to create Emunand separately or I need to do it from the console itself?

OP do not want to use multiple nands so one can be baned and the others not, op want multiple emunands so he can do hacky stuff OFFLINE on one, and thus not be baned(You need to go online to be baned)
and have other emunand that is hack-free to go online(as long as nintendo can't tell a sysnand and a emunand apart, that we don't know, sience this is hack-free should be safe for online and thus not be baned)

Your switch is tied to a certificate which is used for logging on to nintendos online services (eshop/online gaming/updates). That cert is unique for every switch and cannot be faked/spoofed whatever.

You just need to start a game which has a faked or missing cert (games have this too) and this will be enough to ban your switch forever.
Emunand/Sysnand backups won't help with making your banned cert valid again.

He's trying to circumvent bans by having multiple emunands, however once one is banned, they're all banned
NO, for fucks sake Dio, he's not asking to CIRCUMVENT A BAN, only avoiding GETTING BANNED, to operate in different NANDs based on the activity.
E.g. going online through your own cart, or playing a pirated version in another NAND to separate logs and what-not.

No one's bashing the op. Nor are we ignoring him. We're trying to answer what we thought he asked

Since there is a lot going on about Nintendo being able to ban you for doing illegal things in cfw. Wouldn't having 2 emunands be the only option to avoid getting banned and still be able to ever go online?
What I mean is:
- keep your ofw on < 4.1 to be able to use the warmboot when it is due. Obviously you cannot go online with it since it isn't the latest firmware.
- keep 1 emunand free of doing illegal stuff so you can go online with it and update it when a new firmware comes out.
- keep 1 emunand for doing illegal stuff and keep it offline.

When a new firmware comes out, just copy the updated emunand over the one for doing illegal stuff so you have that one updated aswell, but not connecting to Nintendo servers ever and thus not risking a ban.

He's trying to prevent a ban by keeping anything you'd be banned for on a separate emunand that would never go online. Assuming that Nintendo can't detect emunand (which is a big assumption, considering we don't have a working implementation on Switch yet, at least not publicly), I see no reason why this wouldn't work.

Now answer for the OP:
What you said might be posible, but the problem is that we don't know if nintendo can tell apart a sysnand and a emunand, if nintendo can tell them apart, then what you said would not work sience nintnedo may ban you by the mere fact of having a emunand at all, but if nintendo can't tell them apart then what you said might be posible, just use 2 SD cards, and have a diferent emunand in each one, that even increase the security, you want to have the sd card for online as clean as the nand for online.

when theres an option to restore nands you could put your old nand back on and then use tht to mke an emunand.
just backup saves before you go back to an old nand dump.

A second sd because you do not want nintendo to accidentaly find any payload or atmosphere folder or things like that I guess?

Isn't that already possible?
save games with checkpoint for instance
For the nand recovery, I think I have seen that somewhere, but I cannot find the link due to the flood of posts in the nintendo switch secion. It was some kind of tool where you could read the image, there was some payload you could write the image to nand directly too if I am not mistaken

EDIT: HacDiskMount can restore the nand if you run the memloader payload.

Why not just do all of the hacks on SysNAND if its going to be offline in the first place?
Some games may require a higher firmware version than what you've installed on SysNAND. Theoretically a warmboot method that doesn't involve RCM should be coming for 4.0.1 and below, I think.

That would mean you will lose warmboot when you update the Sysnand from updated emunand. You will have to update at some point since games will require the higher firmware hence the use for an emunand

EDIT: Omg @RHOPKINS13 you beat me to it with almost the exact same answer :)
