Need some advice please, switch not been used for a while

Hello everyone, some of you may remember me (its been a while)

Life got in the way of my modding etc sorry, work, had kids, moved house etc... lost interest in gaming due to no time to game.... however things have changed! YAY!

anyway, so ive dug out my switch, its running cfw but old ofw so im kind of stuck what to do now, i used to have an app that downloaded the latest ofw safely and then i updated the cfw stuff using SDSETUP however thats now dead.

i know not everything got updated to work with newer fw etc so just wondered what my options were...

CURRENT SETUP: 13.1.0|AMS 1.2.1|S - using DNS blocker, connected to internet... ive got newest goldleaf as that updated via wifi, i have app store but that didnt seem to like some updates as it corrupted some apps including the app store and now it blue screens (equivelent) when i open that and some other apps. ALSO SEEMS IM IN APPLET MODE??

APPS I HAVE: Breeze (cheat tool), AmiiSwap, Appstore (broken), Checkpoint, DayBreak, Edizon SE, Game card installer, GoldLeaf, JKSV, Lockpick, Some emulators, ZeroTwoXCI (broken) - i dont know what all these things do anymore as i forgot lol...

WHAT I WANT IT FOR: i want to be able to throw games at it via wifi as cables are annoying and my pc doesnt like usb ports anymore, i want to be able to use cheats for the games (offline only) im happy to keep it on the wifi and download updates, cheats, mods etc. I would also like to be able to update the switch/cfw online rather than sdsetup style.... What is the best/latest firmware that is safe to update to so i can still use tools/apps etc? also do i even need latest firmware for newer games?

I'm in the same boat and came back to the scene after a couple of years of being inactive. your best best is to try and post in the switch noob paradise thread otherwise maybe start from the beningging and use something like https://switch.hacks.guide/ or comb through the forums for guides, etc.

FW, i am using 21.1.0 ,but recommend not go over 20.5.0

I update my old one and use v6.5.0 version for almost a week now still not found any problem.

Atmosphere, I am using 1.10.1

UPDATING TO NEW FIRMWARE 21.0.0 IS NOT RECOMMENDED. THERE ARE COMPATIBILITY ISSUES WITH A LOT OF HOMEBREW APPS.

UPDATED APPS for new firmware 21.0.0 (download the MODDED files if there is no official release for FW 21.0.0). USE the modded files with CAUTION. Not all modded apps have been tested.

YOU CAN USE THIS TOOL TO AUTOMATICALLY PATCH your NRO and OVL files to support FW 21.0.0

thank you for this response, this is kind of what i was after.

anyone know if that app for the switch to download safe update files is still available? cant remember the name of it unfortunately

so i looked these up, i remember that site for ps4 stuff too but this wasnt it, it used to be an app on the switch that could download and update the switch firmware (im pretty sure) then i had to apply atmoshphere updates to sd card (copy and paste)

wow this looks promising! maybe this is what i need lol.

im after a sdsetup.c*m replacement basically as i can do the firmwares easy enough i guess.

i used to select the things i wanted and then use a windows gui tool to "boot" atmosphere (still have this setup and working from old payload)

just want to be up to date with fimrware that works with homebrew, app store (homebrew), cheats, internet download cheats (seems to be a new thing since i was on it last) obviously offline cheats i habe that dns thing setup to block nintendo servers anyway
