    Hi all,

I'll be in Europe until November 22, which means that either I play the PAL version 2 days earlier than NTSC, or play the NTSC version only on 23.

So I was wondering, if I choose English as a language in the PAL version, will there be any other change apart from it being multi language?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Nope, if your Wii is region free no difference at all, other than as you mentioned multi-language and the game will have the optional ability to display in 50hz (576i). Not that that really serves much purpose for you, I'm assuming you are from an NTSC region =)

Aditional to your Wii needing to be hacked for cross region games
your TV might (depending on game) need to be able to display PAL.

Ah, thanks. But then no differences even in the english translation? I mean, will the english be UK english, or will it be the same as US version?

Hahahaha sorry guys, I'm working right now, so I forgot to write that I was talking about Zelda.

Obviously I know that GBATemp is not a forum about Zelda, I always read this forum, but I never really post.

    Sorry again.

Zelda TP Wii pal looked washed out and blurred compared to the NTSC version, I hope this isn't the case.

I've read that the translations will be different, with some characters/enemies and dungeons having different names

It shouldn't. The problem with TP pal was probably that the NoE took the easy way out and removed 480p from both Wii and GC version. (Since 480p was removed from evey single PAL GC game). I've never seen that again with any other wii title ever since.

It really shouldn't, unless your TV is just really bad at displaying interlaced signals. The colors themselves should be identical between PAL60 and NTSC when using an RGB cable (like component). And even if you're using a composite signal, if you have color at all, that means your Wii is outputting an NTSC signal; PAL60 would come up as black and white on an NTSC-only TV

It was an specific problem with that game as Flobo explained before. It really looks worse, I have the original PAL and tried also an NTSC backup, and the difference is quite noticeable.

I don't get most people's misconceptions that PAL games are completely different from their NTSC counterparts - they're exactly the same thing, apart from spelling (colour/color) and multiple translations. :/

Hmm idk, I've got both PAL and NTSC versions of TP (opposite situation though - original NTSC and PAL backup) and I didn't notice any significant difference... what kind of cables you using?

It comes for the past when it was required to port games to PAL, this ended up in one of three camps.
    1. Everything was fine, woohoo good company
    2. Black borders at top and bottom, reasonably good attempt but didn't change the resolution properly resulting in black bars being present.
    3. Slowed down, bad conversion usually had black bars as well.
This happened until the last generation in some cases, now its easier for the consoles to make changes on the fly if needed.

Yea, the slowdowns were caused by PAL being 25fps and NTSC 30fps.

I have both versions and the differences are clear, with the NTSC version looking much sharper.
