If you were to softmod one of the two console in order to play games from various systems, up to maybe the PS1, wich one would you use?
I'm guessing the WiiU is more powerful, but the snes mini's bult in emulator is really good.

Canoe (Snes Mini's emulator), was programmed by development team NERD, and has about 80% compatibility of all Snes games. It's more accurate and reliable than the Wii U's official Snes emulator. Frankly, if you have homebrew, I'd personally skip both and install Snes9x RertroArch on the Wii U.

For custom stuff, use vWii emulators with tri-core support. For JUST SNES stuff, SNES mini all day every day

Yeah, but if you want to play on the Gamepad using the actual gamepad controls, you should use the Wii U retroarch Snes9X emulator.

The tri-core stuff in vWii uses the gamepad as well, does it not? Since Cafe2Wii gets blocked?

Oh I don't know. I know we have the Wiisx and Not64 builds that can launch from the Wii U home screen and utilize the Wii U gamepad, but I hadn't seen anyone do anything similar for any of the other great Wii emulators (so much prefer the VBAgx, Snes9xGX, and FCEUGX builds from the Wii over the retroarch Wii U options), if they did, I have to find those now and get them on my system haha.

How good is homebrew n64 emulation on wii u?

Ah, that's what I was thinking of. They probably haven't been rebuilt yet specifically because there are Wii U versions, which is unfortunate

A lot faster than on the Wii, but I think compatibility is the same

Well I am recalling that the certain ISO site does also have a build of the Wii version of Genplus GX that can load in such a way as well. But beyond that, I have not seen the same for VBAgx, Snes9xGX, or FCEUgx, but that doesn't mean they haven't happened, I'm looking to see if they might exist right now.

My setup for SNES is coldboot haxchi and retroarch channel.
SNES games through Retroarch through Wii U looks much cleaner and shaper than Retroarch and snes9xGX in Wii mode.
Plus you get to use original snes9x and not the less accurate speed hacks like snes9x 2010. And it has the XMB with cover box art.

We have builds of Wii64 that can use the Gamepad, not Not64. Not64 used Wii64 as a base, but they're vastly different in terms of compatibility and speed.

... No, we have Not64 capable of loading directly from the Wii U menu, capable of overclocking the vWii homebrew speed and playable on my Gamepad, was just using it. It is indeed Not64. There may be a build of Wii64 that also does this, but Wii64 is considerably less compatible than Not64 at this time.

as you can see from the filedates I only very recently finished up porting the 3 over to use the gamepad, thats why you probably did not know about them ;)
yeah except as mentioned before, not the latest version of those emulators. :ninja:

I dunno where the person who made this thread is but if he could be here, maybe could be put into his emulator mods.

The latest version of Genesis plus GX has wii u gamepad and wii u pro controller support, you can download it here. :)

The N64 vc games on wii u is good. It does have games that wii didn't like Donkey Kong 64. The only problem I have with it is the stick control. The sensitive calibration is all jacked up, that game seems very difficult than I remember it just for controlling the characters during some mini games made it so stressful. The classic controller may be a bit better considering it has that Hexagon gate like shape to lock in certain angles of movement unlike the wii u controllers.

There is no build of Not64 that allows the Gamepad to be used as a controller.

I sure would be interested in seeing this.

This is the build: http://www.mediafire.com/file/iilcf0kr92vak7p/not64.zip
And here are pics of the icon and banner on my Wii U, sorry I deleted the installation files long ago not realizing Chaosgamez would go down and that some things might have only ever have been posted there. As I recall this may not be an official release of Not64, but was certainly based on the latest build at the time (was around October 2017 I believe), and again works on the Gamepad and with overclocking.
