Hacking Wiiscrubber replacing

So I noticed the replace and extract options in the Wii scrubber. I know what extract does and I know replacing is supposed to delete the file you right clicked and add the file you choose in. But I how can I tell if it's working? I extracted a brawl model file... and replaced it with a different one. Then I load the game on my wii via USB loader and nothing happens. Whats up with that?
