You should be able to put roms on the SD card and run them when you boot up an emulator using the wiikey.

I don't think there is any difference between adapters. They are simple adapters that connect: pin 1 on SD to pin 9 on GC mecard etc. I made my own and it works fine.

As far as buying one in Australia, eBay is your friend.

Back on topic, I like the look of the adapter a lot. I think it looks better than the official Nintendo adapter.
