Good to see you go your sense of humor back

. At the wiikey site, they have v1.0, v1.1, and v1.2 update disks for download. I thought there were different update versions, but I could be wrong. I figured wiikey had already realeased an update or two. If not, why the different version numbers? //edit...ah okay, I see your last post.

...it will be you who will be disappointed at the end if this is one big joke.

Now you got me laughing! Why exactly will I be disappointed? Yes, I have a wiikey.

Well, if this update includes WORKING GC audiofix, this will be the chip I get for the Wii I just bought yesterday because really I want everything in one system instead of having to use my Qoob Pro modded GameCube. Speaking of lack of promised firmware updates lol

The current F/W on the wiikey is 1.2
The setup disc is version 1.2

AFAIK this update we've all been waiting for is going to be in the form of a new setup disc, right?

So, really it should be v1.3?

Maybe Im wrong.

I think the whole wii hacking comunnity should put pressure on the beta tester to release this update into the wild, regardless of what the wiikey team say. They've forfited their right to an official release. WHy should they suddenly step in and be the heros by releasing this "awesome update"? when they've casued so much grief for everyone?

Fuck em I say.

i agree, they won't even give us a release date for this "update" and for all you know we could be waiting another month or 2 for them to officially release it.

You guys are such a bunch of whinny kids. I also laugh at the retard who earlier said that 'as paying customers, we must get our money worth'

You are dealing with pirate content; your silly legal concepts are almost as relevant as some pothead crying that his dealer ripped him off. If you are that affected by audio fix issues, take the chip out, that's it.

The Nintendo scenes always seem to bring out the biggest nancies. The N64/GBC/GBA/DS scenes were also so full of drama. holy god you guys somehow manage to be biggest nancies than those 4 scenes combined.

Calm the hell down. The update is coming.

Mod chip fanboys are the worst kind of fanboys. I've quoted your entire post just to show how ridiculous you are.

Im not interested in GC games so im more than happy with the wiikey in its current state. If the update comes with a true audiofix then its a nice option for future use. But for me at least, Its fine the way it is

There's no need to buy an expensive Wiikey when the clones are perfect Wiikey clones. Just buy a clone and update to the latest Wiikey firmware whenever it's released.

rumour has it, the gamecube audio fix is the bulk of the update. here's to hoping that some of the unplayable jp games are also addressed.

problem is the clones tend to be of less quality and will die out quicker compared to a original wiikey.

It makes me wonder, though. If clones didn't exist, would the update have come sooner? I know they have said clones weren't a problem, but they did have to emphasize that instead of giving a real reason for the delay.

Modchip fanboys the worst?(I don't see how that person was a modchip fanboy anyway) I'd say people/clone fanboys that actually like the complaining are the worst. So you think people complaining about a modchip they bought for less than the price of a single game isn't ridiculous? Though, complaining about a advertised feature that doesn't work is understandable, people shouldn't be complaining over a product like this.

I find that hard to believe - tell me one person who has had a clone die on them.

The clones are virtually identical to the original chips. I would be suprised if the Wiikey team have a way to distinguish between an original or cloned chip via firmware. It is simply in the Wiikey's team interests to promote original chips since (obviously) it makes them more money. (BTW if you're wondering how much it costs to make these things you can buy clones from a chinese wholesaler for $1.96 each).

The only morsel of evidence to suggest anything otherwise is that apparently 'The Wiikey contains a bootcode section that some of the clones did not duplicate. That is why the config disc does not work with those clones. Future builds of the config/update disc will do a checksum on this section of code, so if your chip is a clone the config/update disc won't run.' (xiaNaix). Has anyone with a clone had this happen to them?

However this would somewhat contradict the rumours that 'WiiKey.cn [...] do not own their own chip fabricating factory. So they outsourced their chip to an OEM factory for production. After these chips are produced they are then sent back to the WiiKey company for putting onto their PCB boards.

What happened was that the OEM factory decided to put some of these WiiKey-developed chips onto their own PCB boards - making them almost like OEM-versions. That's how these chips have different PCB boards but yet their features are the same.
' (weet/dealextreme)

So who knows. Like I said I would be suprised if Wiikey have a way to distinguish between original and cloned chips, but I guess we won't know until the new firmware is released.

Note: Screenshot of the firmware screen is going the rounds in the eurasia forums.

As for me, I have an original Wiikey and I absolutely couldn't care less about this whole fisaco. I think the whole situation has been blown out of proportion and I'm absolutely sick to death of reading so many idiotic and pathetic comments on the subject. People couldn't just be patient and wait, they just had to whine and bitch how their beloved Wiikey won't play their crappy Japanese games on their PAL consoles, or play their GC games properly because their too cheap to fork out for a modded GC. They expect a company who profits from the sale of a product deemed illegal in most countries to have morals and standards, most of whom don't have the morals to purchase original games themselves. They can't be content for just one moment and can't appreciate how lucky we are to even have such a good solution to playing backup games so early on in the consoles life. They've turned the forum from a place of discussion about games into a place where every other post in a release thread is 'will this work on my PAL machine or brick my Wii'. It's ridiculous, it's pathetic, it's tiresome and I'm fed up with it.
*sigh* If only I had banning powers...

I will once again say that I'm more pissed that the audio fix problem affects LEGIT games that otherwise used to work on the Wii before installing the modchip. That is all.
