Hacking Wiikey clone updates questions

Hey.
So PAL Wii with 3.1 E and a Wiikey clone (don't know version).
Can I update the Wii system to the latest one ? And the chip to Wiikey's 1.9s ?

You can update your Wii to the latest version and your WiiKey clone will work fine.

Some WiiKey clones can be updated from DVD and some can't. You won't know until you try. You won't hurt the WiiKey clone by trying to upgrade.

But how to update? First make a config 1.3 disc and then the wiikey update ?

Don't update to 1.9g or 1.9s as the DVD drives only spins at 3x with these firmwares (you may as well take the wiikey out and use a softmod instead).

Stay at 1.9b as that runs 6x. However, you have to load most new games with Gecko OS to get around the error 001.

Will the homebrew channel work on the latest Wii System update?

I've installed Homebrew Channel on 3.1 E. Can I update to the latest Wii Sytem Update (i guess it's 3.4 E) ?
What about the IOS ? What's that ?
