Just want to check, does the Wiiflow Forwarder Installer (found here: https://code.google.com/archive/p/wiiflow/downloads) still work ok? I see it referenced quite a lot but I also see it hasn’t been updated in 8 years. Is there a different preferred method for setting up a forwarder for WiiFlow?

For context, all I actually want is to set up priiloader to auto-boot/return-to wiiflow, and I gather I need to set it up as a channel with a forwarder in order to make that happen. So if I’m on the wrong track, please let me know!

Hope nobody minds that I’ve got lots of questions. Every time I figure something out it leads to three or four new things to try out!

You are referring to Wiiflow Channel Installer 1.1? Yes you need to install that before you can use any WFL forwarder channels from system menu.

I can't launch n64 games like super smash Brothers and Zelda majoras mask from wiiflow (they freeze while loading on a black screen or on the classic controller prompt) if I open neek and launch them from there they work just fine.. any ideas?

EDIT: I get them to work if I enable "Launch title with neek2o" on the individual titles. Is that the proper way to get them to work? (is there a list of all the games I need to do this on? (so far I used it on SSB N64, and LOZ Majora's mask and it seemed to fix those titles)

I'm still working on getting priiloader to autoboot into Wiiflow. I went ahead and ran the WiiFlow Channel Installer. I've got a nice Wiiflow channel on my system menu now.

Everything I read says the next step is to "move the .dol file to the root directory." Ok, seems simple enough...except I don't know where to find the dol file in question. searching the SD card doesn't turn up any likely suspects. The only thing I can think of is that I installed the wiiflow channel onto the real NAND, so maybe the .dol is stuck there? Was I meant to install onto an emunand (which I haven't yet set up)?

Any advice is really appreciated, I feel like I'm right on the verge of getting this thing set up. Thanks in advance, I owe yall some beer money.

just put it on the root of your SD card and set priiloader to run it.

Been using for a long time but now I recently started playing on a 480p crt monitor and have some questions for achieving optimal video quality.
  • Is there a way to globally set Deflicker->Off for gamecube or wii games? I can't to find a deflicker option in wiiflow_lite.ini.
  • With games that render at a lower internal resolution, like Mario Sunshine, when Video Width: is set to default, would it know what pixel width to use, or would i have to change Video Width: Auto.
  • In wiiflow_lite.ini, under [GAMECUBE], when video_mode is set to 6, it feels like 60hz and my monitor reports 640 x 480. Are these video modes listed somewhere so I can verify it's correct?

Update: So I installed wii flow lite 5.5 over my previous installation, and this time I seen a deflicker option on page 14 of the settings. I changed it, but now the setting disappeared. So i did a fresh installation and now the global flicker filter setting now shows on page 14. Just have to figure out what i only have 1 coverflow view now, but count this problem solved.

Maybe someone here can help, when I try to load any Wii Game from an USB External Drive it will either boot to a black/green screen or immediately boot to an error message(Using WiiFlow_Lite). They all can be slightly different but it’s telling me to eject the disc and unplug the WIi.

Both scenarios I have to force shutdown the WiiU.

I am able to load the Wii Games on USBLoader GX without an issue with default settings.

I have the external drive connected via Y-Cable to and data is plugged into Port 0 (WiiFlow_Lite shows as USB1 in settings). When I swapped to Port 1 WiiFlow detected the drive but it couldn't load the WBFS files when a game was selected. (WiiFlow still shown this as USB1 in settings)

I tried to mimic the IOS that USBLoader GX is using (249) which I did and issue still persists. (Black Screen/Corrupted Save)
I tried to boot various games with IOS 250 and 251 and issue persists. (Black Screen/Corrupted Save)

Video settings are set to default and I am not forcing WideScreen or using any cheats.
I also checked to make sure the WBFS files I have are working fine with Dolphin Emulator on my PC, and they play as expected.
I went through wiiu.hacks.guide and updated and cIOSs and Patched IOS80 on my vWii recently.
I did a clean install of WiiFlow Lite and issue persists.

I am using the latest WiiFlow Lite (5.5.0) booted via SD.
I have tested GC games and it forwards to Nintendont fine and plays.

Would anyone have a solution/additional troubleshooting ideas that I may have overlooked? I feel like it has to be a setting or something that I haven't fiddled with.

I do not have any additional plugins installed.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!

@Birdonwheels That deflicker setting only applies to Wii, WiiWare and VC games. So you'll still need to manually enable a separate deflicker setting for any GC game that get played via Nintendont.

I'm not sure why a global setting for GC games is missing in WiiFlow. I'm sure it might get added in a future release though.

You say WFL is detecting as USB1.

You are referring to...
Settings page 1/14>
Game Partitions = Set>
Wii Partition = USB1
... Correct?

Please check...
Settings page 2/14>
Startup Settings = Go>
Force Load cIOS = Off
Force cIOS Revision = Auto
*****USB Port = 0*****
Mount SD only = No

Thanks for the reply,

I am referring to what you mentioned
Settings page 1/14>
Game Partitions = Set>
Wii Partition = USB1

To further clarify my settings are identical to what you asked me to check. Previously I tried to do Force Load cIOS =On and I tried 249,250, and 251 separately and it yielded the same results.

USB Port is =0
------

Startup Settings = Go>
Force Load cIOS = Off
Force cIOS Revision = Auto
USB Port = 0
Mount SD only = No

Idk if it's a bug of some sort on WiiFlow's end because USBLoaderGX also detects the Drive in Port 0 and it loads Wii/GC Games. I am also able to mount and manipulate the drive files via FTPii in Port0 as well as see and access it in WiiXplorer.

I am using an external SSD. Could the drive be reading quicker than WiiFlow can keep up and causing some sort of error in that regard?

try force load cios ON and then try different force cios revisions

Sorry, I do not have Y-Cable to test my Wii U vWii. I'll test using SD then test using HDD with power supply to see if this issue can be narrowed to Y-Cable.

I am thinking it may have something to do with the Y-Cable also. That's the only other thing I haven't tried because I am using the same Y-Cable with a different drive and issue is persisting and that's the only thing that I haven't changed.

The only thing, is why does other software read, write, and execute from the drive? If I had issues with all software I'd be more inclined to believe it was just the Y-Cable.

I appreciate the help :)

Ok. I can confirm Wii games are working correctly using WFL 5.5.0 through vWii. I tried using SD only, then USB/Power Supply and experienced no issues. I only tested Animal Crossing: City Folk [RUUE01].

If you have a clean WFL 5.5.0 install, the only thing I can suggest is deleting the Wiiflow Save. System Menu>Wii Options>Save Data>WiiFlow Save>Erase. I doubt this is the issue but it is worth a shot.

If you installed 5.5.0 over the top of a previous installation, that may certainly be causing this issue.

I deleted that WiiFlow save and I also I did another clean install (Deleted the entire root WiiFlow folder and apps/WiiFlow. I didn't set any custom paths) Issue persists.

I bought another Y-Cable. I am going to see if that makes a difference. I will report back in a few days. Though it's not all bad since I can use the USBLoaderGX as a front loader if the new Y-Cable doesn't resolve the issue.

With the New Y-Cable, neither USBLoader nor WiiFlow detects the drive. I tested the Y-Cable on a computer, and it mounts, reads, and writes.

It's an external SSD USB-C Drive. The original Y-Cable I use is USB 2.0 and the new one is USB 3.0. I know it's backward compatible on standard computer USB Ports; but maybe the WiiU doesn't play nice with USB3.0 Y-Cables.

I will stick with USBLoader for now with the original Y-Cable I have. Thanks for bouncing around ideas with me. I will eventually try another Hard Drive when this one fails, but that won't hopefully be for a while :D

Splitters?? Do you mean a USB hub? As far as I know you are not able to use a usb hub, the cables need to be directly connected.

With they Y cable directly connected you also need to make sure the main cable is in the correct port on the Wii or Wii U, the secondary cable is just for additional power and can go into any port.
