Yeah I think universe is just an upgraded version of project m from what I've read. It has like double the amount of characters. I did see it can take awhile to load due to how many characters there are. Maybe I'll just use project m until there's a patched version of universe and more readily avaliable.

BRO. I just looked up Smash Bro's Universe. Holy F*ck Balls, 200+ CHARACTERS!? That is insanity.

I found this tutorial

it seems it is just like Mario Kart CGPT and requires the actual disk to run. No way around this. You have to have the 2.5+GB mod installed on the root of your SD Card with a physical disc copy inserted into the Wii and then you boot it from the Homebrew Channel.

With this many characters.. looks like I'm going on eBay and finding a copy of Super Smash Bro's LMAO

No need to thank me, I've been modding for 4 years and I learn new stuff every day, I'm only passing on Information I've learned from other members :D we all help each other out where we can around here. If you ever get stuck with anything, feel free to drop me a DM anytime. Best of luck to you <3

Yeah it's crazy! People are doing it with no disc I just don't seem to understand the instructions given that I'm finding.

Is it possible/better to have emunand running off HDD? I have 700+ games running off SD and I noticed with some games I've tested they freeze when launching or after loading from menu to ingame, sometimes a long black screen. If it has better functionality off HDD, do I simply just copy my 'nands' folder from SD card to my HDD, delete if off the SD card and change path in WiiFlow to USB?
Emunand can be run from HDD. Copying the emunand folder and updating the wiiflow settings should get it running. I do not know whether running off HDD has any benefit over SD per se, but a few factors to consider is the cIOS base IOS and possibly d2x you choose to launch a particular title may affect compatibility. - https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Wii_cIOS_EmuNAND_Compatibility_List - Also some titles may run better, or only run under neek2o.

Anybody on the latest WFL have Driver: San Francisco working with no hangs on ensuing loading screens?

The game has metafortress protection and will trigger a black screen hang after finishing the tutorial section in the parking lot at the start of the game.

I posted this issue in the GitHub issues thread and was advised that all memory patches need to be disabled in the loader. I turned off everything were applicable and there was no change.

I’m using a WiiU in vWii mode on the latest dx 2 beta 11 cIOS’s with USB HDD storage and all other games are working fine.

Any input would be great, as I’m defeated on this one. Thx!

When using an off-brand Guitar Hero controller in Wiiflow, the interface constantly scrolls in one direction. Other buttons work fine, so items can be selected, games launched, etc. If I unplug the wiimote, the scrolling immediately stops. This behavior does not happen in the Wii's own system menu, or in USB Loader GX.

Assuming this is a quirk of a third party controller, is there anything in Wiiflow I could adjust to counteract the constant scrolling?

Does the issue happen in other loaders? Or after launching into a game?
The controller works normally in USB Loader GX, and in the two games I've tried to date, Guitar Hero 3 and Beatles Rock Band. So far it's only the Wiiflow interface itself where the constant scrolling occurs.

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate venue for bug reporting, but I noticed a bit of an issue when loading WiiFlow Lite from USB HDD.

Just for full context, I'm playing on vWii on the Wii U, I have Priiloader installed and set up to autoboot into the Homebrew Channel, and it's the latest version of WFL. Backups, loaders, and associated files are entirely on the HDD, all other homebrew apps are on the SD card.

Anyway, the bug is that if I don't initialize the SD card before loading WiiFlow Lite, it hangs indefinitely on a black screen before the logo appears and I have to force shutdown the console (I have Aroma and the plugin that allows holding the power button to shut it off in vWii mode, otherwise I'd have to disconnect the power). It's not initializing the SD card itself while on the black screen either, I gave it much longer than it should ever take.

If I switch HBC source to SD card and switch back to HDD afterward, or if I've booted into USB Loader GX and allowed it to initialize the SD card then switch over to WFL, the bug does not occur.

So I'm thinking the solutions could be to have WiiFlow Lite initialize the SD card at launch (unless it does already, in which case there's a problem with that), or to allow in the options to disable SD card access entirely and then add another option to manually initialize SD card once the app has loaded.

My personal preference would be if the SD card was entirely optional, since that's the biggest delay for me when starting up USB Loader GX and I don't keep anything that I use for loaders on the SD card. Taking out the SD card is not an option for me even if that would fix it because I need it in there for the Wii U.

There are workarounds for this bug so it's not in urgent need of fixing, but it is inconvenient for my setup because I prefer to run loaders from the HDD with my backups on it.

Another bug I've noticed is graphical corruption on boxart sometimes, but this is more minor and can usually be fixed just by scrolling back and forth. Also some transparency issues with some animated banners when they're not fullscreen but going fullscreen on the banner fixes that too.

This may work:

https://smashboards.com/threads/mod...-the-homebrew-channel-goodbye-wiimote.358240/

Also maybe get a faster SD card? The Wii U unlike the Wii can run faster models of SD cards at the speed they are supposed to run. Try with one with at least "10" speed. A "20" would be overkill and not sure if it is even compatible in Wii mode.

That's because they updated both the hardware and firmware of the sd card reader.

I already have an SD card at the recommended speeds. It's not like it actually takes any significant amount of time or anything, it just feels like an eternity because I'm impatient and I don't like that it wastes a second or two unnecessarily if all I'm doing is getting into a loader on the HDD with nothing being accessed on the SD.

I appreciate the attempt to help with the thread linked, but that won't work as a workaround for the issue since the SD card would still not be initialized, meaning I'd get the same results. There are really only 2 workarounds for this, at least on vWii: either I manually initialize the SD card by swapping HBC sources like I've been doing, or I put WiiFlow Lite on the SD card. My guess is that removing the SD card would also allow it to load from the HDD instead of hanging indefinitely, but I'm primarily on vWii so I need the SD card for the Wii U side of things.

try going to main settings>startup settings and change force cios/ios from on to off or vice versa.

I turned force cios to on, it still hangs on a black screen unless I manually initialize the SD card first. It's fine, there are workarounds, I can still use WiiFlow Lite just fine as long as I initialize the SD card first. I could even put it on the SD card instead of keeping it on the HDD.

beta 3 is where i started compiling with devkitppc r42-1 and libogc 2.4.0 and had to recompile libcustomfat in order to get it to work at least for me and most people. its also where i changed a little bit of code for gpt hdd drives. so i'm betting one of those 2 things is the problem.

wfl test build 2 is from sept 2022. it should work

beta 2 and 3 include the change to the games cios/ios option in the games setting menu. 'auto' was changed to actually auto pick a cios for your game based on the ios the game is designed to use. but there is a problem if you have a d2x cios installed with a base lower than 56. the auto feature may choose one of those and the game will not work.

v5.5.4-1 was supposed to fix that (which it does if you only have d2x cios base 38) but if you have a base 36 thru 55 it still does not fix it. the newest commit un-released version should fix it.

if you have beta 2 or 3 or version 5.5.4-1 and your games do not work try setting the game ios/cios setting to a specific cios that is base 56 or higher

thanks for your quick response fledge68. Most likely, it is not providing data that you have not had for a long time. But I include the syscheck of the two people who did the tests, in case it helps you. The first corresponds to TESTER 1: JOSE and the second to TESTER 2: MANOLO....Thank you very much for everything you do

welp i guess you proved me wrong. but i am curious if choosing a specific cios in the games settings menu works or not? if not then very strange that some games work and others dont.

Hello,

this is just for information::)

@fledge68 ==> also congratulations for what you do for Wiiflow :yaywii:

if your IOS and CIOS are installed as below and I repeat as below:
Slot 248 base 38 (Wii only)
Slot 249 base 56
Slot 250 base 57
Slot 251 base 58

most wii games work with IOS 056 and with CIOS 249 (about 90% of games or more work with this IOS).

with IOS 057 we will say about 5% to 7% of games

and with IOS 038 and other IOS about 3% of games

this is an estimate in percentage (APPROXIMATELY)

hello fellow tempers,

There is any reason to have today on all updated homebrew, cIOS 202, 222-225 and 236? does any current homebrew needs them?

mine are:

Code:
IOS202[60] (rev 65535, Info: hermes-v5.1): Bug Trucha, Acceso NAND, USB 2.0
IOS222[38] (rev 4, Info: hermes-v4.0): Bug Trucha, ES Identify, Acceso NAND, USB 2.0
IOS223[38+37] (rev 4, Info: hermes-v4): Bug Trucha, ES Identify, Acceso NAND, USB 2.0
IOS224[57] (rev 65535, Info: hermes-v5.1): Bug Trucha, Acceso NAND, USB 2.0
IOS225[37] (rev 65535, Info: hermes-v5.1): Bug Trucha, Acceso NAND
IOS236[36] (rev 65535, Info: rev 3351): Bug Trucha, ES Identify, Acceso NAND

Good idea leave or better to remove them to no create unnecessarily conflicts with Dx2 cIOS?
