What's the best theme for a 4:3 CRT? I'm about to mod my old Wii with the intent of emulating a few old consoles on a 20" CRT (PVM). It looks like WiiFlow Lite is the best frontend for this, but I haven't seen a strongly recommended theme for 4:3 aspect ratio monitors - any recommendations? Thanks!

Perhaps it's the default? That's fine too - just wanted to ask the crew here. Thanks!

I'm trying to mod a Wii for my nephew and ideally wanted it all to work off an SD card, meaning WiiFlow as a loader. Got plenty of Wii, GC, and N64 games displayed beautifully and all running perfectly....except Excite Truck. After some digging it looks like it's a common problem with that game related to emunand and the game looking for music files on an SD card, but the most recent posts were 2+ years ago. Wondering if anyone has any ideas for workarounds, or if I just have to choose between SD-only and the ability to play Excite Truck.

I would like to help you out here but i have always run all Wii & GC through USB. Kirby Dream is another problem game to mention that has issues through SD.

Maybe @fledge68 can shed some light or perhaps @jeannotte can help with this.

Yes, exactly the values. Are there different versions of the WS Color overlay around?
The WS overlays are 256x144 pixel, all other overlays are 256x244. Isn't that the route cause?

Hello,

all my games are on usb.

I don't have any game on SD. Sorry

for me the games work, whether it's Kirby or Excite Truck.

I have the following three loaders on my SD (wiiflow lite, USB loader GX and Configurable Loader v70), then if a game does not start with a loader, I try another loader, here is how I work.

be aware that Configurable Loader v70 reads games on SD .

But for Wiiflow, see with @fledge68 who will give you more details:yaywii:

I mean, if it's only that one title, maybe just install it to real nand instead of emunand
I may be misunderstanding, but the game isn't even installed as emunand, just running the wbfs file off SD like a normal game. When you say install it to nand, do you mean like putting the disc in installing to HDD, but instead to system memory? I wasn't aware of that being possible, but I do think that would be a sufficient solution. I suppose a WAD installation of the game would also solve the issue if that's possible with a retail Wii game?

Also thank you for all your work with ModMii, it's a very helpful tool that I recommend to anyone looking to mod a Wii.

Ah, when you said it was a common problem with the game related to emunand I assumed it was a wiiware title/wad. I'm not sure how this issue would be related to emunand if it's a normal wii game. If it is somehow related to emunand issues then just don't use emunand for this game.

But yeah, maybe u will need to use a usb for this game.

I do have 1 other idea to get it working off SD, but it is complicated, could end up corrupted files, and may not even work. But basically build sneek+di with SD access enabled, if using modmii it's in the settings. Then launch the neek menu, load the game through the di menu / emulated disk channel, and hope for the best.

Because the emunand is on sd, and sd access is enabled, and the game is looking for music on sd, there's a possibility of something Going wrong and corrupting data. Either backup your data or test it on a fresh SD card

WFL displays the 'snapshots' to the cover correctly, but shifted downwards in the detail view.

Is this a problem with the 'snapshots' for Wonderswan Color? I use the snapshots provided by @Tetsuo Shima in another thread.

Sorry to be so late, but I've Just checked (I had to install some games because I never play WS) and to my surprise I have the same issue.
I was sure it was ok last time that I've checked, but some time has passed.
I suppose the transparent border above the snapshots is now too much.
I use WFL 5.5.4 test build from the OP.

Yes, the original snapshots are fine. The overlay is missing transparent border at top and bottom. I fixed the overlay (https://gbatemp.net/threads/wiiflow-lite.422685/page-212#post-10024801)

I have WFL working beautifully with Not64 to show cover art for my N64 games, but every game plays Zelda music for its "banner" for lack of a better term. Any ideas how to fix/change this?

Speaking of Kirby on SD, out of curiosity I tried running it from Configurable Loader v70 and I got exactly the same result of WiiFlow Lite: black screen when a cutscene is supposed to start.

Excite Truck (and ExciteBots) work fine from SD card for me. Not sure what to suggest other than checking your dump is good, your WFL for the game are good, and your Wii is setup as it should be.

Btw I don't use custom soundtrack for Excite Truck.

I'm trying to load games (Mario Kart Wii + Wii Sports) from my SD card and WiiFlow always just takes me to a black screen and the Wii soft locks.

I've tried IOS 249, 250, and 251 - none of these matter. Syscheck seems to indicate nothing is wrong. I've tried this on two different Wiis and it's the same result.

What's the fix?

Thank you so much for the mod of WiiFlow, first and foremost! It's great

Just to help anyone else that might have the issue: I had to set it to forces IOS to 249 (base 57) under Startup Options in order to get Wii games booting from SD:\wbfs\, otherwise it would black screen. Now everything's working swell!

This did not work for me. Also using an SD card for games.

MIcroSD, SanDisk, 32GB - Has worked fine for everything else. The SD card is not the issue here.

Edit: Also forgot to mention, I repeated this entire setup on a second Wii with a completely different 32GB SanDisk SD card and got the same exact result.

It works fine booted off SD with WiiFlow? That's literally the only game that it won't run for me; gamecube, wii, or N64.

You specifically said 3 years ago it was a dead end in this thread:

@JesusOnSteroids

To answer, please look at the way things are set up.
Okay thanks, I looked around the wiiflow plugins folder until I found the .ini for not64 which said it was referencing a specific audio file which I can now change.
