Sup peoples,

After using CFG Loader for a long time before this (and even USB Loader GX even longer ago), I decided to get a new loader. I was really amazed by all the 3d effects in WiiFlow. However, I will still use CFG as my main loader as it is simple, and has a lot of features.

My question is: I've been looking over this thread, and I noticed that people have f122 or something. How to I get the newer versions, as I am on r117? Do I enable beta updates? And where do I do that?
get the latest from the wiiflow googlecode site

He must either compile himself or come to irc for newer revisions than that.

I went to the IRC but all it says is "WiiFlow, an open source USB Loader : http://code.google.com/p/wiiflow/ .::. Support-Thread: http://tinyurl.com/WiiFlow-forum .::. WiiFlowiki.com .::. WiiFanArt.com .::. WiiTDB.com".

I think I'll go back to CFG loader, because you can actually get the newest revision without having to go on your computer. Although WiiFlow does look nice.

You dont gotta go on your computer for updates. Actually cfg has a lot of updates you never see because they work from a private svn, and only commit to the main svn when they want to release.
In wiiflow we commit to the public svn every time so ppl who want "development builds" almost daily they can get them. And we add our public betas to the updater, just like cfg does.

So if you want to go back to cfg where it takes 4 months for each update, versus wiiflow's every time we add something nice or fix something be my guest.

I'm still going to use WiiFlow, just not as much as CFG. And do you even have CFG? Because there is an update like every 2 weeks. They just released rev57 today, and 57b9 a week ago.

This is what I get when I go to the IRC

Do I have to ask to get a link?

@joelozy

When you enter the chat...type
!help

and you'll see all the links you need to have.

if you ask someone for the latest beta...someone will guide you there.
That's the overall objective about the irc.

mugoto forgot to mention/ask if you like to have to delete your wiiflow.ini all the time, or move your directories around alot, or have to update your themes alot...which if you do, then keeping up with the latest 'daily' WiiFlow version is for you. He also forgot to mention how things often get broken when they're fixing other things. IOW, the latest WiiFlow version isn't always the best...or most functional. If you really want to keep up with WiiFlow, you'll need to follow this thread and learn from other users' experiences. Just read back a few pages and you'll be able to see why.

I haven't used CFG or followed it for a while, but if what you say about the update situation is true, then it's a bit hypocritical/disingenuous for mugoto to say otherwise IMO, considering his rant about giving all the proper information when advising people about what file system to use. Oh well...live and learn.

Check your PM's.

Ooh, I see it now. Thanks a lot. Sorry if my 2nd post confused anyone. What I meant was that I would be using CFG and WiiFlow together. I really don't care about the Loader at all. I mean, you're only in there for 1-2 minutes, so if it can play games, then it's good. This is why USB Loader GX sucks so much. And why CFG and WiiFlow are good. They can play games.

EDIT: @Skizzo

I like to have the newest thing at all times, whether it's Firefox 4.0b2, or Chrome 5.whatever beta, or CFG beta. I was a bit concerned when I didn't have newest version of WiiFlow, but it's all cool now.

Do you find that all the later revisions after R92 or so do not automatically create all the necessary subdirectories if they do not already exist?

*Laughs*, you must really not follow wiiflow well if this is what you think. Before something breaks I usually fix "100" other things, and even then i fix what I broke in less than a day.
As for the wiiflow.ini that only had to be changed when tons of configurable settings were changed and was necessary for your ini to be as small as possible. This doesnt have to be done all the time. "Just read back a few pages and you'll be able to see " that noone was instructed to do that in a long time, and not many ppl have that many real problems with wiiflow anymore directly because of the paths and ini changes that were made. Seriously go to the thread you want to be in and stop trolling ours.

They create them fine. anyways r122 is incredibly stable atm. you can get it from irc by typing !help, or w8 until i make the next beta release. I'm just trying to add in a few more fixes/nice things for it to be worthy of a release candidate.

So I just updated everything (HBC, Priiloader, cIOSX r20). and I have a small problem:
When hitting the home button (or icon) WiiFlow will just freezes this is when I launch it from the dol forwarder (via priiloader), if i launch it from the system menu (via wad forwarder) or directly from HBC pressing home returns me to the HBC (my desired behavior). I assume it is more a priiloader issue and the fact that it isn't updated to know the 1.0.7 HBC ID. But how come it works correctly from the System Menu? What command does WiiFlow issue when trying to load the HBC via the home button, since I assume it isn't just loading a hardcoded channel ID (i.e. JODI or HAXX)

With the latest Wiiflow r122 and cios249 rev20, what is the best/optimized base to use, 38 or 57?

Wiiflow doesnt correctly support cios20 atm, and the big reason we were waiting for cios20 was for triiforce compatibility which is fckd up again. It worked in the cios20 betas but does not in the release, once again.

Ok, I will wait to update then. Everything work so good now with r122 and cios19 anyway.... Thanks mugotu for all your fine work on wiiflow.....

In the last few pages I see that a lot of people are constantly updating to the latest revisions and other people expecting newer revisions to just work better then previous revisions. I just want to say that we use Source control to keep track of our changes, and to be able to test new features.

You guys MUST realize that that's what it is. When we make a new release, that's the one for the majority of the users. The revisions are only for testers, or advanced users. That is also THE reason that users can only get those revisions from IRC, or compile them theirselves. When you compile your own, you're considered an advanced user. When you get it from IRC, we know you got it from us.

You also have to realize that not every commit into source control has to count. Not from the point of the developer, that is. We can use it to just store temporary changes, or test new things just between the developers. Therefor, it has no use to report issues with revisions here, or in Google Code. If you have an issue with a certain revision, you can go to IRC. Issues are only valid for releases we made. Those releases can be found on either google code, or through the online updater.

Expecting every revision a new beta release, or expecting beta updates, is exactly what killed USB Loader GX. If all users start using the latest revision always (since almost everybody will enable beta updates if we add that), a lot of stress will be added to the developers (I've been there, so I know). The amount of stress is formed by the fact that every new feature, or every bugfix, must be working right away. We don't want that. We release when we think (and our testers agree) that a feature or set of features work.

So when people tell us they leave because we don't release every revision, that's right. CFG Loader also doesn't do that. The CFG Loader team has a seperate SVN which you guys can't access. When they release, they release, and merge the PREVIOUS version. That's why they can release with every commit. They just commit once every couple of months.

Anyway, just wanted to share this with you. Don't expect everything to work if you get a latest revision. Wait for the releases if you want stable software.

this means that the current stable release is Wiiflow 2.0 (which is r45) ?
I think mugotu released r117 through the online updater, so I expect that to be the latest stable release. I also do expect mugotu to update the zip files on google code anytime soon, and name it release 2.2
