Simple question, and a small explanation would be even better.

When you have a hacked Wii, can you have WiiConnect24 on and not have to worry about Big N detecting that you have a hacked console and deleting HBC or secretly updating your console or something while it's in standby? I've been completely off the internet with my Wii (with the exception of getting covers for Configurable USB Loader) for the fear of Big N detecting my hacked Wii online.

Nintendo doesn't care about hacked Wiis (until you send them in due to bricking), and the Wii is incapable of auto-updating.

This also applies to the Nintendo Channel and anything else in the Wii Shop Channel.

I had heard a rumor before, though, that just taking the Wii online onto one game (it could have been The Conduit or Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, I don't remember) would possible delete your HBC if you had it. Could have been just a rumor.

So, in other words, it's cool to go on WiiConnect24 and whatnot? It's totally safe?

My Wii is still on 3.3 and it works perfectly fine with WiiConnect24 on it. I've had no updates at all on it install without my knowledge (and I've beaten it into family members brains not to do anything that has to do with a pop-up without alerting me first).

Don't let rumours and paranoia get the better of you. You will be completely safe taking your 'modified' Wii online, and also by leaving WC24 enabled.

There's been some contention around the fact the fan is OFF when in Standby, potentially causing heat & harm to your wii, however I've never bought into it, and have had my wii for 2 years with WC24 on and no issues to date.

Well, in that case, I'll leave my Wii on WC24. Thanks for the info, everyone.

EDIT: Only one problem. Now Ninty sends me messages about updates, and how they will delete all my saves and cIOS files if I install them. Ergo, the only annoyance is that I would have to delete the messages from Nintendo so I or my roommate or a guest doesn't accidentally install an update. Cos then I would have to kill someone.
