There has been some, well, alot of speculation regarding how many Wii U controllers (or Wiipads, depending on who you ask) players will be able to use with the recently announced Nintendo system that comes out some time in 2012. Many noticed that in all of the pictures and video that Nintendo trotted out to publicize its new system, there never seemed to be more than one touchscreen sporting controller being used at any one time.
Nintendo, of course, neglected to address this during its E3 press conference which it held last Tuesday. Well now, in an interview with Nintendo’s main man Shigeru Miyamoto, it has been revealed that the Wii U will, in fact, only support one Wii U controller per system.
“Our basic premise is that you can use one with a system,” said Miyamoto. “If we got to an idea of having multiple, it might be just more convenient for people to use their Nintendo 3DS and have a way to connect that. That being said, we are doing research about if someone brings their controller to their friend’s house and they want to play together on Wii U to whether or not something like that would be possible.”
So there’s the answer to that question. Since the announcement of the Nintendo Wii U, Joystiq has reported that Nintendo’s stock has dropped 10%, reaching levels the company has not seen since before the Wii was announced.
What’s your take on the Wii U? Does Nintendo have another hardware hit on its hands?
