Hardware Wii U update error code 162-0002 help

how's the situation?

I just sent Nintendo an email stating they owe me a new console since the one I bought was built with a major flaw. Still haven't heard back from them. So I'm going to give them another call. And speak with the CEO about this. I've been playing Nintendo since 1985 when it first came out. i own just about all the systems. even the Famicom.

Yeah, that's gonna happen.

Look kid. I've been handling things with major corporations for years now. I know how to handle things. Also I've been playing video games before you were even born. and I know my way around the Law. The only thing I can do is file a small claims from Nintendo in court to for the console that I've purchased. If I see anymore post like the ones that were put up earlier today. Those post will be removed.

What is up with you kids posting those shitty photos?
Because you're kind of responding like someone who doesn't have a clue and are just saying things that might make it seem like you do. You could have been buying Nintendo products since the 19th century and it still wouldn't entitle you to speak with the CEO. You'll be lucky to get to a point where you would be speaking to a region manager.

Now, provided your Wii was never hacked in any way to play homebrew or pirated content so that a system transfer shouldn't affect your assumed to be unhacked vWii, then you just need to calmly explain the situation to Nintendo. Keep calling until you get the right person too. Certain representatives will be a lot faster to just help you out than to follow company policy perfectly.

  1. You have no idea how old I am. But it's been many moons since I was a child.
  2. Your attitude sure has changed since your first response.
  3. The CEO is not going to talk to someone bitching because they haven't gotten a replacement Wii U right away.

I gave you kids a fair warning. I just reported every single one of you to the Admin. keep the replies to the topic.
Kids :) That just cracks me up; I'm 30. To be fair, the thread only seemed to go off-topic when you lost your cool. Also, expecting to speak to the CEO was rather comical. When you get a hold of Iwata-san, tell him I said Hi.

edit: I feel for you and your situation, I do. Nintendo has top-notch customer service so if the first person you speak to doesn't help just keep trying. They'll do you right.

edit 2: Has anyone made a WAD of that Japanese Wii Channel that supposedly resolves this error code? I know it was mentioned earlier in this thread but I didn't see an answer and my Google search comes up empty. If so, and if all else fails with Nintendo Tech Support, he can hack the vWii and maybe use that to resolve this?

A serious tip though, being an ass will get you nowhere with customer service. I'm always nice, and oddly enough, I always get help way faster than my friends and family, even when it's with the same company. Coincidence? I think not. ;)

I work at a computer repair place and you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. i will help someone faster and better if they are nice to me...if they are dicks i really don't care what happens to their shit.

I used to work at an IT department in a university, so I can sympathize. Things get spread along when you switch the phone too (i.e. "This asshole is demanding to speak to the CEO! I know, what a dumbass!"), so you can't just start out a dick and then be nice later.

Joostin and Terminal - You guys took the words right out of my mouth. Having been in the IT industry for almost 10 years now, and service my entire employment history, you attract more ants with honey. Also, I've had various occasions where I needed to work with Nintendo Support specifically and I have always had a great experience. They fixed my dead launch day Wii free of charge so I could transfer my purchased content to the Wii U. They sent me free Jumper Pack removal tools for the N64. They offered to fix my R.O.B. circa 2002. I've had nothing but excellent experiences with Nintendo Support. Maybe it's because when I call I don't have an attitude and I end up having a pleasant conversation with the support tech. I also keep in mind what was mentioned above per my own experience as a tech support rep, be it Nintendo or any company. Being an asshat does not guarantee results unless you're a lawyer or politician, but then again being an asshat is a requirement for those jobs anyway.

I just need to talk to the CEO. If they have a fix for this than I can't wait for it. I just need to let them know what happen, so the same mistake doesn't happen twice. Mabey it's my ISP provider. that can't connect to the Wii U. I even changed my settings from WPA-2 AES to WEP. to see if that can work. Also I'm going to call ATT to see if it might be some tech issues on their end. I miss playing my games that I have for the Wii U.

You will never reach the CEO; I know you are just frustrated and that's why you got upset. But expecting to speak to the CEO of a Global company is unrealistic. At best, and as mentioned previously, you will reach a supervisor. When letting the Supervisor know what happened, calmly and professionally give them the background. Explain to them you did not hack your Wii U or your Wii, and that you are a paying customer. Mention your Club Nintendo account; I have been registering games since the My Nintendo days, so when a support rep took a look at my 10+ year purchase record my issue was immediately escalated.

bezem LOL! I forgot all about My Nintendo. It seems like it's been so long, didn't they give prizes (like icons and wallpapers) specific to the game you registered?

NintendoCosmos You only sent an email today, wait at least 3 days before calling.
I'm pretty sure; I never downloaded any of the goodies and always just hoped for Club Nintendo to come to NA (which it finally did). I think my main reasoning behind the registration was disc replacement or some other perk that was offered. Now I'm just glad to have a fat Club Nintendo product registry :)

I just removed a bunch of offtopic replies and other spam from this thread, try and keep it constructive from now on guys. If you don't have anything useful to add please do not post. Also you might want to put yourselves in NintendoCosmos' situation where his legit console is pretty much a brick and Nintendo are claiming he tampered with it so he is left with very few options. Consider how you would feel if people came into a thread you made looking for advice and just spammed it up with crap, you wouldn't be very happy would you?

Equally NintendoCosmos, you need to chill out also and not flip out at people, there is no need for that, just use the report button and so on and let a mod clear away the trash.

Anyway NintendoCosmos I hope you get this sucky situation rectified soon.

All Apologies p1ngpong

if it's really an internet connection issue, and you've at least have the internet browser installed, you can try with pretty much any hot spot to try to run the update. You only need to make sure the game pad is charged and have power to the console. You can do every last bit of the update without using the TV.

I work at a museum. So I'm going to bring my Wii U down there. Since they have a huge internet service over there to see if that will help. I'm getting MH3 Ultimate for the Wii U and I can't wait to get the console working to play it. I have the original game for the Wii. But I heard that the severs are down.
