So for the past while, the left analog stick of my U Pro controller has been acting up when tilting it to the left. Now it's getting uncomfortably problematic to the point that using it would ruin the gaming experience. Unlike the Gamepad, the wires to the U Pro's analog boards are soldered on, so it's not quite as easy to swap on piece with another. Thought about getting another U Pro controller to use, but I don't need a brand-spanking new one. Used is fine so long as it work, but I'm hesitant to use eBay because of potential fakes. I figured, if I get a used one, I'll use it until it has problem, then I could combine the good parts of both to get a working controller again (so long as the bad parts aren't the same thing).

Then again, should I get another U Pro controller? What about these other kinds of controllers that just about do the same thing? I may not get 80 hours on a single charge out of them, so I dunno. You hear stories about 3rd-party controllers. What do you all think?

have to say the pro controller really is irreplaceable by a 3rd party version. if there are no games you explicitly need the pro for you can try a wii pro/classic pro, or the wonderful hori gamecube pads, all which require a wiimote.

people sell the used wii u pro controller on kijiji/craigslist for half price retail so maybe look for a used one locally you can see in person before buying.

3rd Party Controllers are fine. I bought a bundle of 2 of them off of Ebay for 20 bucks, and they looked exactly like the Wii U controllers, but without the Wii U symbol on the top of them. They work flawlessly, and never had a single issue with them. Battery life is great, but I always charge them back up right after I use them. So, I wouldn't know much about the battery life. But, 3rd party controllers seem to work just as good as the real thing. An Wired GameStop Xbox 360 controller I had for years still works just as well as the day I bought it.

Just because some people had bad experiences with their 3rd party devices, doesn't mean they always suck. They just got unlucky. Most of the time, they work perfectly fine, granted you do a tiny bit of research.

Never had problems with the analogue sticks of the WUPC but didn't like the layout so what I got instead was two Gioteck GC-2 Wii U controllers and I like using them a whole lot more than the official pro controller for the Wii U. The battery lasts for ages too.

Blow into the left analog hard, once. Works. (serious)

You can try to put a little of silicone grase on a q-tip and rub inside the potentiometer, it helps to avoid friction problems and stuck analog sticks. Most people are familiar with this happening on N64 sticks, but actually, it can happen on any controller. I remember when I was a kid, I had to purchase quite often PlayStation controllers because the sticks were loose, the culprit was a stupid minigame to peel potatos fast and me and my sister were pretty addicted to make the best time... :rofl2:
