Hi, I've recently bought two Wii U Pro Controllers from two different sellers and both units won't boot/charge up whatsoever, why exactly? Battery died?

Cosmetically, they're in excellent condition, but yeah the battery ain't charging up.

It's been 12 years since the Wii U was released and Wiki says it had a lifespan of 7 years so it has expired.

Lastly, I won't bother returning them, I'll just buy new batteries if it is the case (I reckon so). If these controllers used rechargeable batteries like Xbox does it would be easier to deal with.

one of my pro controllers batteries died. and yeah you gotta replace the battery
It's nice and convenient that these controllers have a built-in battery, but when it does it needs a specific battery than rechargeable batteries.

I wonder what's gonna be of Switch Pro Controllers when their batteries die... Probably the same. And DualShock 4s are starting to feel close to it (I've got one which the battery doesn't last too long).

If you have a multimeter just measure the voltage of the battery. If it does show anything else than 0 the battery should still be alive (but could be in a terrible condition)

Luckily Switch Pro Controllers can be used without a battery. It's like a wired controller if it has no battery.

There's this video of someone using one with no battery at all, having them plugged in. Might be worth a try?

I received the new batteries I ordered and it now successfully boots up, but can't do a complete test as I don't have a Wii U around. And I tried it wired without battery connected.. Nothing showed up on the PC.

Great controller shame it's so restrictive due to Nintendo, that is, no Bluetooth connection or whatever.

It's bluetooth, you just need special software to use it on PC (WiinUPro)
And I believe they are wireless only and the cable is only for charging. In the video above, the guy said the inputs are still transmitted wirelessly. So you need to pair and do all that stuff for it to show up in Windows.
