emuNAND'll probably happen sometime soon. No promises but really likely.
First, we probably need SD card access. A beta version just for testing the feasibility of the concept might store the emuNAND on a remote computer, but that would be impractical for the general user.

why not USB?

Because USB is encrypted on a Wii U. It probably will be possible to bypass that, but for software that can access the SD, it isn't encrypted.
I predict that the first emuNAND will be saved on an SD card using an exploit in Smash.

>need to access SD which requires IOSU exploit for anybody who doesn't have Smash
>encrypted
>can dump keys with IOSU exploit
nice

Do you mean that the SD card is encrypted when Smash uses it? I thought it wasn't...

No I meant that by the time you could access SD outside of Smash you'd already have access to USB. Besides, you can even access USB (via a Wii U) with a kernel exploit, it's how Cafiine's going to work when rewritten.

Marionumber1 and NWPlayer123 are correct. Cafe OS is stored in a 512mb bank and all vWii stuff (including wii save info, downloaded channels software etc) is stored in its own 512mb bank. For Cafe OS content (eshop downloads, save data etc) that's all stored in a seperate storage bank from Cafe OS itself( either 8gb or 32gb depending on your console). I suppose Nintendo's logic for this was to make things confusing for the hacker community. Gain access to one bank, but not the other and having to take a slightly different approach for each bank etc.

Another possible reason for using two memory banks could be because NAND has faster read/write speeds, but is more expensive. The eMMC bank may have slower access speeds and therefore be cheaper (per bit).
