Let me start off by saying that I've cleaned, air'd out, torn apart, and generally eff'd up a Wii U console, and got it working 100% after roaches had many an orgy inside it. My sister better be happy.

Now, it's time for it's twin to undergo the same treatment, except this time, the drive is a lost cause. Any disc I put into the drive was invalid, no matter. It is a rd-dkl101-nd model drive, however rd-dkl034-nd is all over Ebay. Was curious if anyone had any dealings with Wii U drives?

Hmm, the only way to know: Trying one of those :D

I'd assume it's like Wii drives, and work right away.

each wii u drive is locked to the console. you can swap the mechanical part as well as the laser assembly but not the logic board. that's whats locked. as long as the logic board is good you can replace the others
