Hacking Wii started freezing

I've noticed recently that my Wii has started freezing, and the remotes stop responding.
I have seen it occurring during games (which can be very frustrating), but also during start up of WiiMC and Configurable USB Loader.
Additionally, WiiMC will often cause a memory stack dump error on screen and then reboot when I launch a file, but after the reboot it works perfectly.
I'm on the latest versions of CFG and WiiMC.

If it was only during games, I'd say I had a problem with the HDD, but since it happens during start up of apps, I'm tempted to say theres a problem with the cIOS's.

What info do I need to post to get some advice on the issue?
And how would I get the info for you?

you could try running chkdsk on the SD and USB devices. Also, WiiMC uses no cIOS, just plain old IOS58.

It freezes when I click on the CFG USB Loader or WiiMC channel, before it tries to connect to the USB device.

Could there be an issue with my IOS58?
If so, whats the best way to replace it?

Run CHKDSK on your USB Device. Sounds to be a corrupt file hiccuping the loading process.

The USB Device is split into 2 partitons, One is WBFS for games, the other is NTFS for films. Both are 250Gb in size
Can I run CHKDSK on a WBFS partition?

Or should I just re-format the entire partition to NTFS?

The USB stick is coming back as being ok

Convert wbfs partition to wbfs/iso files using WIT tools.
Then use them to validate game checksums.
If everything is ok nuke wbfs partition.
Having 2 partitions is good idea.
One with games won't be modified much compared to one with films.

You could use wbfs2fat to convert the HDD to FAT without loosing the games and then run chkdsk.

However, would it be beneficial to convert the wbfs partition to FAT or NTFS?
If I convert to FAT, how would I handle the 4Gb+ file sizes?

All programs will split up the files if necessary
