Important: If the wii is modified, or using addons or software not supported by Nintendo, theres a posibility("fear") that the Wii will stop operating after the update. If you dont agree to updating, press the power button on the machine for more than 4 seconds [watermark covers some here, so im guessing a bit] and you will cut the power, and the update will be cancelled.

PS: Its japanese, not chinese. Watermark is in chinese it seems tho.

I updated to 3.0u and I went ahead and clicked update after seeing the warning when going to System Update again. Nothing happens. It checks connection, says downloading update and then no updates found for your system you already have the lastest system software just like the PAL Mario Strikers did when you already had the 2.2 update and it checked for one.

"backups" work (and while i'm at it, they aren't backups people, they're pirated, burnt games, get over yourselves. I also went to forecast, wii shop, etc and everything is fine. Played Big Brain and Guilty Gear.

Believe it or not, I don't care.

Have you checked online for Strikers?

Yeah, everyone gets the warning message if they try to update again once they are already at 3.0 The message showing up has nothing to do with whether or not your Wii is modified.

Played a game of Strikers online with the 3.0U for whoever was asking. Then it dropped, I bet that it's just Nintendo's servers getting slammed from the update traffic.

Crap, I gotta hurry and solder that Wiikey in.

I was getting ready for a firmware update.

Yay!

P.S. - (We need an emoticon with a yellow fella holding a Wiimote)

By the looks its safe to update. And whats funny I was just thinking an hour ago when Nintendo plans to update the Wii again..

I wonder if they fixed the standby/heat issue. I like the clock, it's a nice touch. The 180* disk channel thing, meh. Forecast on the menu, meh, I'd rather have the temperature. News channel stuff, when I use the channel I might see it. Slot illumination on disk insert/eject, awesome. Load times between channels, seems the same to me, I never thought it was slow. Disk load speeds for me seem to be the same if not slower. The warning about modchips is funny, they've gotta be pissed about them.

There's 2 reasons as far as I can see why Nintendo added the warning about modifications:

To scare you (probable)
To add the option of not upgrading because the future updates will kill the machine if it's chipped, but the warning takes the responsibility of your broken Wii off Nintendo (paranoid)

What's everyone else think?

Nintendo added the display of such a warning screen for future updates. They do this to prevent lawsuits if they do ever brick a modded Wii.

I would be more worried about the next update, because they seem to be looking into it.

hmm, faster disc reads. wonder if this means possibly more dre's too. anyone able to test some games and report on this? it's late now and i'm headed to bed, but i'll hopefully be updating to 3.0u tomorrow when i wake up. and by then, maybe a brave soul will have tried 3.3u

also, anyone know the changes that 3.3u brings over 3.0u?

It not just a warning.
After your update your wii and reboot.
You "may" got black screen after you got in channel menu in a few minutes.

hmm maybe they put code in the latest firmware so they can track you down or something? and when everybody least expects it they zap the wii's or something like microsoft did? i know nintendo europe game a email to everybody to accept the new terms and conditions and it says that nintendo has the right to spy on you and watch what you are playing e.t.c maybe this is where they can now watch you?
